A long lonely existence.
We had an all consuming love
But no one to accept it.
Each day when the sun arose
We seemed to miss the warmth.
And though we felt we searched in vain
We tried without surrender
To fill the hole dug through our hearts
And feel complete again.
Then you found us dangling over the edge
Ready to give in to despair
The rope you tossed us was full of the hope
We had managed to lose somewhere.
An angel from above showed up
And taught us what true love is.
For no one can claim a greater prize
Than the gift of becoming a family.
And, now you are one of us
An extended branch if you will.
For fate brought you to us when we needed you most
Our miracle, our anchor, our friend.
