An Affair to Remember: 40 Year Old Virgin
A Review of The 40 Year Old Virgin Starring Steve Carell, and Catherine Keener
Now unless you've been living in a cave for the past couple months, you've no doubt seen or head the television and radio spots, or at the very least seen the billboard of Steve Carell, who is, 'The 40 Year Old Virgin.'
From the producer of the Award-Winning show 'Freaks and Geeks' comes a movie that will knock your socks off! It stars Steve Carell, whom you might recognize from Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show' or from some of his co-starring parts in such comedies as 'Bruce Almighty' or 'Anchorman.' Steve Carell also co-wrote this movie, and stepped up to play the role of the virgin himself.
Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) is a 40 year old man who works in the stock-room of an electronics store, collects vintage action figures, and still hasn't had sex yet. After a night out with his fellow co-workers everybody finds out he is a virgin. Knowing they can't let this continue, his new found pals try and score him some tail. After some funny failures, one involving shellfish, Andy meets a woman he begins to fall in love with.
The movie is like a roller-coaster, going from fall-down funny to almost tear-jerkingly touching. An awesome cast does a great job in bringing this movie to life. The only real flaw this movie can have is if you aren't into the same kind of jokes.
If you don't like virgin jokes or sex jokes, then this movie may get a little boring. Kind of like a one trick pony, it's funny as long as you don't get tired of the premise. Keep in mind, the premise is a 40 year old man who still has not had sex. Did you laugh or even smirk? You'd probably like this movie then.
Also as a bonus, Judd Appatow has cast one of our favorite wise-cracking smartass, Seth Rogen. Seth and Judd had known each other while working on Freaks and Geeks, and it is nice to see them working on a project together again.
So when you're trying to decide what flick to watch with your girlfriend or boyfriend, you two should have no problem deciding to watch this over-the-top sex-romp. And maybe you'll get lucky too!
