An Aging Cheese is the Unexpected Star of an Internet Video Show

The Big Cheese Reaches Out Across the Globe to a Million Viewers

One of the strangest internet stars to grace the pages of an internet webcam site is a block of aging cheddar cheese. If you are a cheese lover, this star and its home pages will make you salivate.

The cheese makers of West County in England placed a Westcombe cheddar in front of a webcam on December, so viewers could watch the cheese slowly ripen.

In February the West County Farmhouse Cheesemakers cheese was brought to public attention, and as of Thursday morning the site reached a landmark and attracted its' 1 millionth viewer. The website visitors have come to view the now famous piece of cheese, from 119 different countries to date.

The most viewers watching the cheddar come the United States and others come from as far away as New Zealand.

These cheese makers consist of a group of farmers in the south western part of England. They are dedicated to the production of traditional quality cheeses and this particular star of the video will take a full year to mature, so you may want to take a break and sip of cup of tea while you watch the fast paced action packed video.

The idea behind the creation of the video for the cheese website, was to show viewers how one real food is made and apparently they have succeeded beyond their expectations.

In case you want an exact action time rundown, in order to keep track of the fast paced show, the site runs a live clock, broken down from days to milliseconds.

They are currently taking nominations to name the cheese star of the show, so if you have any creative ideas, go ahead and enter your name choice.

For dedicated viewers, there is even a cheddar fan club you can subscribe to, and a free screensaver you can download.

The clever marketing site has a page of cheeses for sale ranging from a Belton Red Leicester and unpasteurized mature cheddar, to a half fat mature cheese for those weight conscious people. If you are suddenly craving a nice chunk of one of the delicious cheeses featured on the site, you are out of luck, unless you live on mainland UK of in the northern part of Ireland. It does say though that you can contact them if you live elsewhere. Paypal even reaches into the farmlands of southern England and handles this creative sites' transactions.

If you want to see where the cheese is coming from, the site even includes a map pointing out the areas each particular cheese they sell comes from and has a list of local picnic areas to enjoy.

So grab an easy chair and a nice hot cup of tea, and sit back to enjoy the star perform. Can anyone say cheese?
