I fell fighting for this country before it was even a country, somewhere in the Ohio Valley fighting the French.
I was one of the first to die at Concord to free the colonies from British oppression. I died of pneumonia at Valley Forge but I helped to create this country.
I was killed during the Franco-American Naval War when my ship was taken by a French Privateer. Did you even know about my war?
I was a Marine who fell at The Battle of Derna in the first Barbary War.
I fell during the battle of New Orleans when the British tried to bow us to their will.
I fought the Creeks to punish them for their atrocities, only to be a victim of them myself.
I stood with Bowie, Crockett and Travis at the Alamo to free Texas but with hopes of joining the United States.
I died at the Battle of Buena Vista in the Mexican War.
I fought my brother in places called Shiloh, Bull Run and Gettysburg. I died of dysentery due to poor conditions before I could help put down the rebellion. I starved to death at Camp Douglass near Chicago. I was proud to die with my brothers of the 54th Massachusetts; we fought for our country and our race.
I rode with Custer to a place called Little Big Horn. Unfortunately I met Geronimo one faithful day.
I was an African American who didn't make it with the rest of the Buffalo Soldiers up Kettle Hill. Our battle has been ignored in favor of San Juan Hill getting most of the press.
I was killed in France by mustard gas the war to end all wars. If only it had.
I did my part to free a continent when I died on June 6th 1944. I was on the Arizona in Pearl Harbor. I didn't finish the Bataan Death March.
I froze to death near the thirty-eighth parallel. I died when a million Chinese troops crossed the Yalu River.
I came home from Vietnam in 68 but by 98 I was dead of Agent Orange cancer.
I was shot down over North Vietnam, I am still there.
I died when we invaded an island I had never heard of, Grenada.
I fell during the invasion of Panama when we took out the drug dealer Manuel Noriega
I died in the First Gulf War as we liberated Kuwait. I was killed by a roadside bomb in the 2nd Gulf War.
I died when I ran into a burning tower, was my bravery any less because I was a fireman?
I died in Afghanistan while searching for Osama Bin Laden.
Who am I? I am an American Hero.
