An Angery Smoker Speaks Out

I am a smoker and I normally respect those that don't. I won't smoke in your car or house. I won't smoke in my car unless I ask if you are OK with it. As a smoker I have rights to. Most people look down their nose at smoker's as though we are using some kind of illegal drug right in front of you. Well I guess maybe we are in a sense, since smoking is baned in almost every area of your community. It was smokers that built the sports center in Lincoln, NE. If it wasn't for us paying the extra taxes on our habit, Lincoln wouldn't have their sports center. Is this not crazy? We as smokers aren't allowed to smoke anywhere but our tax dollars are welcomed to better the communities. Well, why don't we put a few extra taxes on alcohol and see if we can't build even more things with those tax dollars.

Their are jobs that won't hire you if you smoke. I just seen an ad the other day that actually stated smokers need not apply. Hmmmmmm what happened to the clause of, we do not discriminate against any individual. Oh wait that has to do with race and nationality.

There are all kinds of events that you can attend that you can't lite a cigarette but you can open a can of beer. Heck stay long enough and you can wear that can of beer as perfume because someone is to drunk to keep from spilling it down your back. Personally I have a real problem with alcohol being spilled down my back. Oh yeah and after that event is done those people all load up in their cars and try to drive home. WOW look out on the road. I have stopped going to rodeo's because of this very problem.

I really think that smokers have the right to feel discriminated against. We are told where we can't and can smoke. But anyone can consume alcohol anywhere they want. You don't see a smoker smoking a pack of cigarettes in a 4 hr. period and getting into his car and dangerously driving home taking the risk of killing himself or someone else.

What about the patients at the hospital. Everyone thinks they know what is best for a person. Yes stopping would be the healthiest thing to do. But if they aren't ready then it isn't going to happen. Just like with the alcoholic that goes to rehab. If they don't want to stop they are just waisting their time. I have seen that to many times. Or they are only at rehab to keep from having to sit in jail or attend some other kind of treatment. My fiance was just in the hospital for a minor surgery. In order to smoke a cigarette you are to walk clear across the parking lot to the street and smoke. WOW long ways for a patient to go. Oh my and what about when it is -10 below. Well I guess that will ensure the hospital some more money because now that smoker now has pneumonia.

Don't get me wrong I am a smoker that wishes to quit. I will get the job done one day soon. I will not tell anyone they can't smoke around me or in my car. I think smokers need to start having a voice for their rights. I would rather smell someone's cigarette smoke than deal with wearing someones glass of beer. Do you ever see a smoker smoke a pack of cigarettes and become 10 ft. tall and bullet proof like people do with alcohol?

Now I know my breath and clothes all stink because I am a smoker. I know I have premature wrinkles because I am a smoker. But it is my life and my ADDICTION not yours. Yes smoking is an addiction and don't let anyone tell you differently. Some people will say I smoke because I enjoy it. LOL RIGHT. Not sure who those people are trying to convince but they won't convince me. There is no enjoyment from smoking. Yes it is said smoking will calm your nerves some. Well yes it will in a sense because once you smoke you just got your fix and now you can function on a normal basis. Without that cigarette you will become more and more anxious.

Please people I don't want to start a riot. But speak out for your rights and be heard. It isn't going to change anything but we can still be heard. I didn't not write this to make anyone angry. But I have wanted to be able to say my piece for a long time. So please don't anyone take offense of my thoughts and opinions.
