An Autumn Sunday

Donna Cavanagh
An autumn Sunday
Alive with crisp, cool air
Warm, snuggly blankets
That I am not willing to share

Early morning rising
Can't seem to sleep late
The daylight beckons
Each morning, my steady date

Just once I wish the daylight
Would forget about me for awhile
And find another sleepy soul
To jar awake with its sunlit smile

But the morning light is calling
So much ahead to prepare and do
I greet the day with a grumbling hello
And to the peaceful night I bid adieu

Great imagery! I'd love to sleep in too...but my two year old has his internal alarm permanently set to 7. Daylight savings has been a blast <not really!>
