CHOOSING A THEME:
Anyone can plan a wedding, but it takes a committed team to plan a good wedding. Planning a wedding can be challenging, however, it's important to make it fun, interesting, and memorable. More so, have fun doing it! A wedding which focuses on the significance of the date itself (10/10/10) is a good idea. Having everything in tens is smart, but may be challenging. To avoid making it too complicated, try to plan a wedding which reflects you and your spouse's taste, hobbies and/or interests or even your history together as a couple!
A fall-themed wedding is perfect for a wedding held during the autumn season. This type of wedding should have warm but brilliant fall colors (like red, mango, burgundy, rustic etc.). Overall, it should focus of the things we associate with fall or the autumn season. There is nothing more beautiful.
THE LOCATION:
Choosing the wedding location is a decision which is usually made based on the wedding theme, the number of people, costs and/or what the couple has envisioned or wants in terms of taste and aesthetic appeal. However, the focus should primarily be based on the season, setting and personal taste. For many, the cost will be a determining factor, and it should be; depending on the location, wedding date and the demand for the facility, it could get a quite costly.
Autumn is a really beautiful time of year. Having the wedding ceremony outdoor is not always ideal in October in most states. However, for those who would like to have an outdoor wedding, but the weather conditions aren't ideal, you can bring the great outdoors indoors. Better yet, have it in the barn (or back yard if the weather gives) or inside your house! This is a great way to also save on wedding expenses. It may require some creativity and a lot of decorating, however, it's something that can be achieved. As the leaves turn, there are many beautiful blends of gold and red colored leaves all around. The popular images that we are all familiar with can be used as inspiration when decorating. Michael's is a great place to shop for crafts when decorating for any occasion.
THE WEDDING DRESS:
I strongly believe that choosing the right wedding dress is nothing that anyone can really advise a bride on. From personal experience (and from speaking to other brides), I find choosing a wedding dress is usually a reflection of one's personal taste. More importantly, when you have found "the" right dress; you will know... It's just like meeting "Mr. Right"!
FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS:
The church and the reception hall should be decorated in autumn colors (e.g. rustic, red/burgundy, or pastoral colors) when throwing a fall wedding. This can be contrasted with white flowers/roses. There is nothing more striking than a blend of rustic and red (or mango) colors contrasted with white lilies or roses. Colors of "summer glow spray" or "mango calla" roses or lilies are perfect colors for a fall wedding.
Nostalgic details can really add a little pizzazz to the wedding. Creating bouquets of flowers, or a vase of fruits are ways in which one can be creative, but also stay in sink with the meaning of the season. Branches of berries and pumpkin vases can also be an option instead of the traditional vase if you want to make a statement, however, it can also make the floral arrangement fun and interesting.
THE WEDDING INVITATION:
The wedding invitation and program should always reflect the theme of the wedding (wedding color and so on). This should also be fun. A great way to ensure that you are getting what you want is to create your own invitation using the template from program softwares like Kodak EasyShare software and Smilebox. The greeting card paper can be purchased at places like Staples or Office Depot. For an autumn wedding, once again, pastoral colors, or earth tones and the like are perfect! Shapes can also be a fun option when choosing or designing invitation and/or thank you cards for a fall wedding. Some really amazing shapes that could tie into the theme of the wedding are: leaves, pumpkin, apple, twigs and so on. Click here to read more on how to design cards using the softwares listed above.
THE FOOD:
For a fall-themed wedding the food and drinks should reflect tradition, the couple's taste or cultural heritage. A homemade Thanksgiving menu (like turkey breast, stuffing, mashed or sweet potatoes) would be perfect on the menu. One should also consider having another popular dish on the menu, like steak and potatoes (for those that don't like turkey).
The wines should reflect the couple's taste, the season and the wedding theme and/or design decisions. There should also be the option of white and dark wines, maybe something like a chardonnay, pinot noir, a merlot and a Riesling. An option of up to or about 5 wine flavors to reflect the taste of the guests is a great idea. An apple cider or a fruity punch is also perfect for an autumn-themed wedding. THE FAVORS:
Gifts and favors should also reflect the theme of the wedding. For a fall-themed wedding there are many great ideas to choose from. A piece of wedding cake in leaf-shaped cake boxes are great favors for guests. Additionally, gifts for the bridesmaids and best men should reflect the wedding theme but more importantly, they should be of a personal nature. Additionally, they should be a show of gratitude from the bride and groom for their participation in the wedding. To view some great ideas for wedding favors click here.
At the end of the day, no matter what kind of wedding you choose to have, make sure that it is what both you and your spouse have envisioned.
