The Compaq CQ-62 features a powerful AMD Athlon II Dual Core P320 Processor, which is taken to further speeds with the included 3GB of DDR3 Ram. What all that really means is anyone tired of looking at a windows hourglass will really really like this machine, as it is a speedy companion. Users can also upgrade the machine to up to 8GB of Ram, but that option is directed more toward professional users or gamers who run applications that require monstrous amounts of power. The 15.6" LED display really does not disappoint either delivering impressive visuals for streaming Netflix movies, watching Hulu Plus, or even using the machine as a DVD player. The Super Multi DVD drive supports dual layer technology and runs CD's and DVD's effortlessly, and even sports Lightscribe technology to make sure all those discs get proper labels.
Still, the real treat is the 802.11 Wireless Internet. While the unit has a traditional wired Ethernet port for physical connections, it effortlessly picks up just about any wireless network. That means the freedom to move around the house without having to be near the router, which means watching movies in bed or even checking email by the pool is a distinct possibility. The wireless connection is fast and furious and delivers top notch quality whether the user is at home or at the coffeeshop or even at McDonald's. Of course, all of that connectivity may also be the result of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit which is the included operating system with the Compaq CQ-62. Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit is pretty much the favorite OS going these days (aside from Android that it), and the laptop is well speced out to run it perfectly right out of the box. Plus, connecting any type of device is a breeze thanks to the inclusion of 3 USB ports on this computer.
All things considered, the Compaq Presario CQ-62 is quite the machine. This is a moderate to advanced user type of layout at an entry level price. Buyers will not only get what they expect, but will also likely get a fair amount of surprises. This a machine that really delivers in all areas, even in battery life, and is equally valuable in the dorm room, home office, family room, or board room. Every now and then a laptop with this much ability at a great price surfaces, the only problem is they are few and far in between. This is a quality machine well worth the price.
