An Early Rising

Chris Klos
I awoke this morning and stepped outside
The tree frogs were cooing in the palms
The hatchling birds were chirping in the sycamore
Illustrating their endless desire for the morning meal
And as I stand there listening to the sounds of a new spring day
I witness the beauty of the sunrise...
Rather than embracing it and letting it fill my soul
I grow weary of the cyclical scene
I think I have grown tired of watching it come up everyday
Maybe I will go west to watch it fall into the sea...
Because of all the bold truths and beauty this place holds
I know for sure this isn't the place for me
So upon my early rising
So wonderfully synchronized with the sun
Hope and promise envelope me
Of far more beautiful, unimaginable, and better places to come
