What you will need:
An 8 ounce glass or cup
A spoon.
Very warm but not completely hot water.
3 teaspoons of sea salt.
1-3 drops of tea tree oil. (This natural antiseptic can be found online or in any local heath food store.)
First you need an 8 ounce glass of fairly warm water, not very hot but hotter than luke-warm. Do not fill it to the top. Fill it a little over three quarters of the way full. Next Your Stir in 3 teaspoons of sea salt until it dissolves.
Then you carefully add 1 to 3 drops of tea tree oil. You will want to add more or less depending on how badly your throat is hurting. No less than one and no more than three drops. Do NOT over do this. Tea tree oil is very potent. Remember that only a little is necessary for the antiseptic effect to work properly. After the solution is mixed, gargle vigorously, but do NOT swallow it! Tea tree oil is not to be taken internally! This is another reason why you want to only use the smallest amount necessary. Continue to gargle and spit until the glass is empty.
Repeat every four to six hours if necessary.
One thing to note is that it works better if you use it when you first feel your soar throat starting. It will still work if the symptoms are worse but you will more than likely need to gargle this solution multiple times before they will completely go away.
If the symptoms worsen or do not subside after a day or two of using this method, you really should consult a physician for professional treatment.
