Invite Your Superhero Friends to your Eco-Friendly Halloween Party:
Maybe it's a sign of the environmental crisis, but the greenest of superheroes is making a comeback. Sony is releasing a movie version of The Green Hornet in 2011 with Cameron Diaz and Seth Rogen. Get ahead of the trend by sending paper-free email invitations to your eco-friendly Halloween bash. Thanks to The Green Hornet movie, you can add some clips and a soundtrack to your invitation. Tell your friends that we can't all be the Green Hornet, but everyone should come dressed as an environmental superhero like Bat-Friendly Man or Leafblower Busters.
Serve Supersized Local and Organic Food:
Actually supersizing causes a lot of waste and obesity. Put the emphasis on quality over quantity and serve super-good foods made with local and organic produce and other ingredients but no meat. You can make a main course out of a hearty butternut squash and white bean soup. Bake a pan of brownies. Instead of creating a lot of garbage with individual bottles, serve pitchers of water and two versions of punch so people have alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. Use any punch recipe you like because they'll all be perfect for a Halloween party once you add the severed hand decoration below.
Green Hornet and Other Eco-Friendly Decorations:
Float a severed hand in your punch bowls. Just fill a rubber glove with water, tie the bottom with a rubber band and freeze it. Peel the glove off when you're ready to serve. To keep the rest of your Halloween party decorations eco-friendly, use your TV screen as a backdrop. You can play clips from The Green Hornet movie and other Halloween or superhero programs. Play scary music along with Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's Flight of the Bumblee.
Eco-Friendly Halloween Party Transportation:
Transportation is one area where many superheroes and ordinary citizens are falling down on the job. Even the Green Hornet has a gas guzzling car called Black Beauty. Encourage everyone to avoid single passenger cars when coming to your party. You can include ridesharing and public transportation information in your invitations. A real Green Hornet would want it that way for any eco-friendly Halloween party.
