An Emmy Night to Remember

Hours graced the long, red carpet. Stars shimmered, and spotlights ignited. And anticipation takes a seat with fingers crossed, and tears are ready to slip and fall. And the man in white steals the show.

Award Show Hosts are like presidents. There are the good, the bad, and the unforgotten. They captivate us with charm, style, and presence. Their words bring a smile to our face, and their actions intrigue and entice us. And Neil Patrick Harris is no exception, delivering an unforgotten performance.

Déjà vu decorated the night, but not everything was set in stone. Something was amiss. Categories were filled with brilliance, and no complaints could be said for those awarded. But where was 24? Why recognize only one talented woman, Cherry Jones, who recently joined a cast and crew of one of the best shows on FOX? At least, Hugh Laurie and his show, House received nominations, and if I remember right, Laurie did win an Emmy last year.

But the night was not filled with disappointment, and despite the Reality TV genre, there was no channel surfing. The remote was buried underneath the cat, who glanced at the television set every time she heard, "And the nominees are," and a beautiful memorial was delivered by the heart of an angel, Sarah McLachlan. And icons and idols lit up the darkness, reminding us of their legacy and inspiration, and never would they ever be forgotten. And their weight in gold is the foundation for new stars set to shine.

And September 21st marks the return of many brilliant television shows such as Heroes, House, CSI: Miami, and Castle, and as this week unfolds like a red, red rose does new and original television shows such as The Vampire Diaries and FlashForward promise to break ground, hold us in suspense and drama, and leave us wanting more.
