An Epic Eco-Friendly Restaurant in Chicago

C.A. Jacobs
Burger King, McDonald's, Wendy's, and Jack In The Box demolish burger competition, but this Chicago burger joint puts a new twist on dining. The founder, David Friedman, dreamed of providing a great product at a low cost. Being a professional chef, Friedman decided to create an all-natural burger, stripped of the processing that other fast food restaurants serve. His eco-friendly all-natural idea of a burger is a "more mindful burger" that Friedman calls an Epic Burger.

Friedman states that there are certain rules that set Epic Burger apart from the rest.

"Epic Rule #1: Not all burgers are created equal."
No hormones, no antibiotics, and fed a strict vegetarian diet. This all-natural burger is a cut above the rest.

"Epic Rule #2: No frozen hockey pucks allowed."
Their beef is hand packed and made to order.

"Epic Rule #3: The bun is the beginning and the end."
Freshly made buns from local bakeries are used to enhance the burger.

"Epic Rule #4: When made right, fries are delicieux!"
Freshly cut and freshly cooked, epic fries are truly delicious.

"Epic Rule #5: It's not nice to fool Mother Nature."
There's no catch. Everything is truly all natural and organic.

"Epic Rule #6: Fresh produce tastes...well, fresher."
Produce from the closest location gets to the store faster, and ultimately fresher.

"Epic Rule #7: Six rules are enough."
This touch of humor adds a familiarity to the Epic Burger.

Located in the heart of downtown Chicago, Epic Burger is no stranger to the city. In the past three years, Epic Burger has been recognized in several magazines and newspapers including the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Magazine, Chicago Scene Magazine, and Eating the World. All agree that Epic Burger is the place to go for a delicious burger. It was named one of Chicago's Hot Spots and one of the top 30 burgers. Beyond the taste, Epic Burger is the definition of eco-friendly. They use 100% organic beef, organic milk and eggs, nitrate free bacon, no processing, or harmful oils. Epic Burger also uses biodegradable cups and utensils, petroleum free packaging, energy free equipment, and local products creating a clean and green environment to eat. One thing is clear: it is all about the environment at Epic Burger.

I take the beef, mix in some onions, chilie, and mustard. The rest is mere bottom grease. Thanks for the lesson.

Interesting. I appreciate their efforts, but I bet it costs much more. That is why more people will still go to the typical fast food chains. Not everyone can afford to eat organic, even if it is better. Good article.
