An Heir to the Kingdom

Arkay Evans
I am the daughter and the heir
to a Kingdom,
Perfect in opulence and splendor,
I am a child of the Father,
Living on the edge of spectacular,
And on streets where hate is just another pothole,
the past is unqualified to know my future, or to ever say
whether I'm praising the right or the wrong way,
And of this mercy, for my faith
I am grateful for the love of God,
thankful he knows I'm only human
that I make mistakes, and have the need for joy and love,
just like everybody else does,

But some never ask the question and
some forget to forgive or believe, saying,
"Too much bad has happened to me",
or they think they've already waited too long
to do anything other than grieve,
But believers know, we are the heirs to a Kingdom
that is gracious and forgiving,
We are children of Creation,
and given the house of the Lord as a place to go,
to open our hearts and continue to grow,
where we praise and give thanks
for the guidance and sacrifice of his only son,
and find that the one who first loved us
is the one we must first love,
that we never have to stand on our own,
Or leave alone,
And we can praise and give thanks
to be grateful for the love of God,
That he knows you too are only human,
have made mistakes, and have the need for joy and love,
Just like everybody else does,
You are an heir to the Kingdom.

He Arkay...I finally made it on here. This poem I had to read again and really reflect on it because in the past 1 1/2 years I have learned how very true this is. He has always been with me but I just was not listening. I appreciate everything now big and small and I am so glad I am alive. This is so beautiful and I had to read it one more time.
