Let's start off by saying that the very first scene of the movie all the way through to the last one, about a third of the movie is all based on the characters doing nothing but staring at each other or particular things. It would have never crossed my mind that I would be here typing up a paragraph on how much of the movie is based on blank stares, but today I am. Bella the main character and potential love interest meets a man named Edward, they don't talk all that much to each other, they simply stare. The whole Twilight movie is based on the staring aspect of the movie. Bella finds herself in many life and death situations but what does she do, she just stares at whatever it is that may kill her. For example, in the movie there's a car about to crush her and what is it that she does, she just stares at it, but in all seriousness she wouldn't do that if it meant her life, now would she?
I found the acting to be quite terrible and I'm being frank about it to. Throughout the movie Bella has a certain look on her face as if she were on drugs or reaching a sexual related experience all while staring. Edward Cullen as a vampire oh please he's just another pretty face with absolutely no talent to speak of as far as acting is concerned. He has so many corny lines (their really repetitive) and how he says that he's a century old but yet he acts like a really weird immature teenager.
If I were to describe the movie Twilight in one line it would be: a boy falls head over heels for another girl figuratively speaking, the boy must do everything in his power to help her which she waits and sees everything unfold as if she's this Barbie doll (by the way Kirsten Stewart isn't all that much to look at), they officially become a couple. This movie isn't very entertaining to say the least because there's absolutely no interesting or wow factors to do so. This might appeal to women who love Edward's character or him personally or to men who are on dates with their girlfriends and are trying to impress them or that they can somehow relate to this so called "emotional love story."
I feel truly sorry for the one individual associated with this movie and that's Catherine Hardwicke. She's really a superb director, she actually made a failure of a movie to a great movie onto a technical standpoint, and anything else was simply out of her control. I don't know who would ever turn down the kind of money this movie has achieved as far as the box office is concerned. I blame everything on Stephanie Myers and not Catherine Hardwicke for some of the numb moments as well some of the cheap things that made this movie feel such. I feel truly sorry for the individuals that have seen this movie and consider it a quality love story, which they haven't yet been exposed to real love stories. Twilight is basically a teenage, immature, child infested fantasy built all into this one movie, which to me is a completely utter mess. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone because I in fact hated it, I tried to love it I really did, but it just didn't do it for me. I will keep you posted on the next Twilight movie and give you another honest review like I did for the first one.
