An Important Twitter Tool

Showing Kindness on Twitter

Brenda Hoffman
The most important Twitter tip you will ever get is to make sure that you use good etiquette. It is all about being kind and conducting yourself in a professional manner. This is especially true if you want to look credible so that you gain followers. With this in mind, here are a few things that you should keep in mind while conducting business on Twitter.

Kindness will work everywhere. It is as simple as helping others whenever possible and saying thank you whenever you yourself get some help.

Whenever you retweet you are sharing information that someone else has posted. Of course, you probably already knew that. What you may not know though is that the original poster will take this as a true compliment.

Focus on providing your followers with valuable content so as to show them you respect them. This will help you to gain more followers as well.

Always remember that whenever you are on Twitter you are branding yourself. This is why it is so important to pay attention to everything that you say, especially since Twitter is different from any other RSS feed in that you can never take back what you have said.

By keeping these things in mind you are simply acting as you would hopefully act in real life. This is important because some people will go online and feel as though they can hide behind their computer screen and act in any fashion they desire. You do not want to do this if you own a company and are seeking to drum up some business for it. Otherwise people will get the wrong idea about you and possibly try to avoid you all together, which is going to actually hurt your business and you in the long run.

Twitter really can make or break you, which is why you will always want to keep the golden rule in mind while you are doing any of your tweeting. Whenever used properly Twitter can bring in big money for your company. So, always remember to be kind whenever you are using this powerful tool.

I've avoided Twitter up to now but I'm considering it now so I appreciate the advice. Particularly that you can't take back what you've said. I do think before I type...it's those typo's that will haunt me if I can't go back and change it. I'll just have to be more careful. I sometimes hit that enter button a little too fast!
