An Inexpensive St. Patrick's Day Celebration

Plainfield, Illinois is a thriving Village, located just 35 miles southwest of Chicago. Its mid sized population of just 37,334 enjoys a quaint downtown center, which was complete renovated in 2009 creating a beautiful place for fun and entertainment. This year, the city of Plainfield will be celebrating St. Patrick's Day on the weekend before March 17. On March 13, adults can enjoy a real St. Patrick's Day celebration at Finnegan's Pub, located on newly renovated Lockport Street. Finnegan's Irish Pub plans to host a celebration that will include traditional food, live music, and Irish dancing.

On March 14, families can enjoy the free St. Patrick's Day Celebration. Festivities start in the parking lot of Plainfield Central High School. Starting at noon, kids can enter their decorated bikes into the St. Patrick Day bike-decorating contest and then participate in the bike rodeo prior to joining the St. Patrick's Day parade, which will start at 1 p.m., which will march from the high school to the newly renovated downtown district.

At the end of the parade route the city plans to erect a series of inflatables for the kids to play on at Village Green Park. Adults will further enjoy the planned pub-crawl starting at 2:30 at some of the other bars and restaurants located on Lockport including Bin 48, Baci Italian Ristorante and MoeJoe's Cajun & Caribbean Cuisine.

In addition, on March 14, Finnegan's Irish Pub is getting kid friendly by hosting a St. Baldrick's Foundation event, where volunteers will pledge money and shave their heads to support cancer research. The St. Baldrick's event begins at 11 a.m. and anyone can sign up for a shave. Donations start at $50.00 per shave. "Those Funny Little People", the Keigher Irish Dancers, and The Shamrockers will provide entertainment for the Finnegan's Irish Pub charity event starting at 2:30.
