The anatomy of a kiss
Warming the arctic of my heart
As I gaze into your photograph.
I longingly wait for the sun to rise and set
With the ticking of a clock
Being the only sound of comfort.
See these hands as they try to hold yours,
But my arms are only so long.
You fade back and back and back
Until the void overtakes.
Because I know
I know that in your eyes
I am hardly worthy
That I kiss more concrete than I do your lips.
Warming the arctic of my heart
As I gaze into your photograph.
I longingly wait for the sun to rise and set
With the ticking of a clock
Being the only sound of comfort.
See these hands as they try to hold yours,
But my arms are only so long.
You fade back and back and back
Until the void overtakes.
Because I know
I know that in your eyes
I am hardly worthy
That I kiss more concrete than I do your lips.
