On Sunday, January 16th, the 68th annual Golden Globe Awards will be presented live on NBC at 5 p.m. PST (8 p.m. EST). Ricky Gervais will be returning as this year's Golden Globe Awards host. The show will be broadcast to over 160 countries and will feature awards winners from both television and motion pictures. Let's take a look inside this annual awards show.

The Golden Globe Awards Nominees
Many believe that the Golden Globes is a precursor to the Academy Awards. If you receive a nod by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, your chances of receiving an Oscar nomination will likely increase. This year's nominations for Best Motion Picture include: "Black Swan," "The Fighter," "Inception," "The King's Speech," and "The Social Network." The inside look at the creation of Facebook, "The Social Network," is heavily favored to take home the top prize. David Fincher, director of the film, is also considered the frontrunner by odds makers, competing against Christopher Nolan ("Inception"), Darren Aronofsky ("Black Swan"), David O. Russell ("The Fighter"), and Tom Hooper ("The Kings Speech"). Films nominated for Best Musical/Comedy include: "Alice in Wonderland," "Burlesque," "Red," "The Kids are All Right," and "The Tourist." Colin Firth has the best odds to win as Best Actor in a Drama for his role in "The King's Speech," and Johnny Depp is the frontrunner for Best Actor in a Musical/Comedy for his role in "Alice in Wonderland." Depp was also nominated for his role in "The Tourist," but is considered a long shot. For a complete list of nominees, click here.

Miss/Mr. Golden Globe
The title of Miss/Mr. Golden Globe has been held by some well-known stars before they became Hollywood icons. The role of Miss/Mr. Golden Globe is to present the award to the winner once they arrive on stage. It is a coveted role by many sons and daughters of famous actors and actresses. Former Miss/Mr. Golden Globe include: Linda Evans (1964); Anne Archer (1971, daughter of Marjorie Lord and John Archer); Melanie Griffith (1975, daughter of Tippi Hedren), Laura Dern (1982, daughter of Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd); Joely Fisher (1992, daughter of Connie Stevens and Eddie Fisher), Freddie Prinze, Jr. (son of Freddie Prinze) shared duties with Jaime Nicole Dudney (daughter of Barbara Mandrell) in 1996; and Rumer Willis (2009, daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis). This year's Miss Golden Globe is Gia Mantegna, daughter of Arlene and Joe Mantegna.

Having been around for 68 years, the Golden Globe Awards has some interesting facts and trivia. Here are just a few:
