Hopefully you see the same in this interview as you read how S.L.P. plans to take Associated Content by storm with her stories of true life accounts. You may want some popcorn and something to drink as you sit and read her first gripping story.
S.L.P. is also busy with her own family, and an online business she has started over a year ago. I don't think that will keep her away from Associated Content. Please feel free to comment on her first story, and congratulate her on her first published story.
What inspired you to become a writer?
"I have always enjoyed writing and I use a lot of personal experiences of people."
Did you have a desire to write before you long before you actually did?
"Yes."
Do you have a degree in writing, or did it come naturally for you?
"I guess you can say it comes naturally. I don't have a degree in writing."
Do you share your writings with family and friends, or is it your escape from them?
"Some I share, others I don't. Depends on what my topic is. "
Did you like writing at a young age?
"Yes. I used to love writing poetry, short stories, and essays."
Which author or authors do you find more appealing than others?
"I am actually a horror story reader, so I love Dean Kootz and Stephen King."
What motivates you to write these days?
"I kept saying I was going to write a short story and never got around to it until now. I motivate myself to follow thru on things."
Steering away from writing, what do you do for fun when you are not working?
"I go to the movies, play with my cats, listen to music, and for some this isn't fun, but clean."
Is there a place you have traveled to once that you would really like to revisit?
"I would love to go back to Minnesota. I went there one year on spring break with a friend and her family and really liked it. I almost moved there before coming to WA and I would love to go back."
Is there anything extra you would like to share about yourself with others at Associated Content, and those who come to visit your page at AC?
"If they read my stories, they will realize I don't stick with one type of writing. I like to mix things up and write about as many topics I can."
What was the deciding factor that led you to join Associated Content?
"I wanted to get my short story published. I didn't know where to go, but some people has told me about AC and told me it was good, so here I am."
Are you excited about getting paid for writing through Associated Content?
"Yeah, but no matter what, just getting the stories out is payment for me."
How does your husband feel about you writing?
"He doesn't mind it, he has only read one that I wrote a while ago, and he liked it. He says as long as I don't write about him, we are good :)"
We know from reading your home page at Associated Content that you are moving to Alaska. Are you really looking forward to it?
"I can't wait. It looks so beautiful up there and I grew up in the snow so I am excited about being able to get back into cross-country skiing and ice skating. I have missed the snow the past 8 years. "
Do you have a particular subject you like to write about?
"Not really. I like to mix it up. The couple I have written right now, are based part on true events in peoples lives. Take A Long and Painful Road to Happiness, that is based on a couple family members. I take thier experiences and use them. And lets face it, I am sure we all have that one true love or even a first love that we think about from time to time. I know I do."
I noticed that you make chocolates and other items for sale at Steff's Chocolates online. How long have you been doing this?
"I have only had the chocolate business about a year, but I have made chocolates and sold them since my junior year in high school. Just now it has a website and a business name."
Is writing just a fill in between your hours of chocolate making?
"I like to keep busy, so writing and chocolate making are my fill ins. I normally work full time and I just got done getting a degree in Forensic Science, but I can't stand being bored watching TV or anything so I either write or if I have orders I make chocolate. "
I hope you do well in Alaska with your online business. Will this mean less writing posted, or do you think that it will motivate you even more to write?
"I think my experiences in Alaska will help me write more. I am sure that my husband and my trip across the USA and back and then up to AK will be a story in its own."
Do you hope to become an author someday?
"I always dreamed of being an author, but if I was to stay just like this and just get them published on AC I would be happy with that too."
What are your expectations in becoming a writer here at Associated Content?
"I just hope that people enjoy the stories."
It has been a pleasure interviewing S.L.P. She is an inspiration to anyone who dreams of writing stories. I am looking forward to reading her next one as many of you will, too.
