An Inspirational Night on American Idol

Tuesday's performances featured inspirational songs as a prelude to Wednesday night's two hour special, "Idol Gives Back." The contestants were mentored this week by multi-Grammy singer Alicia Keys. Keys is also co-founder of Keep a Child Alive, a non-profit organization that provides aid to HIV and AIDS families in Africa.

Casey James opened the show with Don't Stop by Fleetwood Mac, and his performance did not impress the judges. Randy and Kara called it a good performance but said it feels like the same thing week after week. Simon wasn't as kind. He said, "It wasn't inspiring. There was zero emotion, no originality and a lazy song choice". Lee DeWyze delivered another outstanding performance and chose a great song in Simon & Garfunkel's The Boxer. Lee delivered a powerful and emotional rendition of the classic that Kara and Ellen called his best performance of the competition, and Simon called it absolutely brilliant.

Fan favorite, Tim Urban, sang Better Days by the Goo Goo Dolls. The judges called it an okay performance and not as good as last week. But, it's safe to say that this Joe Jonas look alike will be here for another week. Teen cutie Aaron Kelly sang I Believe I Can Fly by R. Kelly, a song he has been performing since he was five. The huge song seemed to overshadow the young performer at times, but he pulled it all together in the end. The preteens and teens love Aaron and as long as they voted tonight, he'll be here for another week.

Siobhan Magnus performed When You Believe sung by both Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey and it was not well received by the judges. Kara thinks she doesn't know who she is, and Simon said she made the wrong song choice. Michael Lynche performed another Mariah Carey classic, Hero and received mixed reviews from the judges. Crystal Bowersox , performing the first time without an instrument, closed the show with an amazing rendition of People Get Ready. Singing the first verse a capella, she delivered an inspiration and flawless performance even shedding a few tears for her dad at the end of the song. Randy gave her a standing ovation, Kara praised for taking a risk without her instrument, and Simon said she sang fantastically.

So, who is going home Wednesday night? If the judges comments are any indication, it looks like it could be Casey James or Siobhan Magnus. Tune in tomorrow night at 8 p.m. for the results on the two hour "Idol Gives Back" featuring performances by the Black Eyed Peas.

Crystal sing a sings about the Lord and exposes the cleavage
    of her breasts! How inspirational!
    What blaspheme! What a hypocrite!
She was singing to Satan, not a Holy Lord!
People should demand a dress code for American Idol.
