The Scene

Your coffee partner stirs his coffee with a tea-spoon. Imagine his shock when he lifts up his tea-spoon to find the tea-spoon head missing! Only the handle is left in his hand, without the spoon-head. Observe his reaction! See the surprise and shock in his face! I assure you that you will have a great laugh from his reaction, especially if you know how to play along with him.

How to make a disappearing spoon-head.

First, make a disappearing spoon. It is easier to use a good quality plastic spoon. Use a sharp knife and cut a plastic spoon on the handle so that about one and a half centimeters of handle is left on the head of the spoon. Wash the severed spoon-head and the handle clean and dry both thoroughly.

When the severed spoon-head and the handle are dry, use edible glue to glue the handle and the spoon-head together again. Apply a thin coat of edible glue on the handle and place it on top of the remaining one and a half centimeters of handle on the spoon-head. In this way, the plastic spoon becomes one again, except that it is one and a half centimeters shorter.

How to execute the prank

Invite a close friend to your place for coffee on April Fool's Day. Arrange the coffee cups, saucers and the spoons before your friend arrives. Make sure that you have the normal spoon and your friend has the 'special spoon'.

After you and your friend sit down by the table, pour the coffee for your friend and yourself. Add sugar and creamer as you usually do. Use your spoon and stir your coffee. After that, lift your spoon out of your coffee and shake it gently to clear it of the coffee. Put your spoon on your saucer. Observe your friend carefully as he takes his special spoon and stirs his coffee. See his reaction when he lifts his spoon out of his coffee and sees only the handle, without the spoon head.

You should pretend to be shocked and stare at him intently. Carry on observing his behaviour. You will have great time laughing!
