Jason Bauer Puts It in the Balance

Codie: 1) You're currently studying law; in addition to that, what is your background and experience, including your previous association with writing?

Jason: I am currently starting law school at the University of Michigan Law School in Ann Arbor, MI. I see law school as the ultimate intellectual challenge and am looking forward to dabbling in the law for a little while. I do, however, consider myself an entrepreneur. I enjoy working for myself, spending time with family, and doing things I enjoy.

Four years ago, I founded a professional sales recruiting firm. We recruit sales representatives mainly for pharmaceutical sales companies. I very much enjoy helping others find careers that they are passionate about.

I attended Brigham Young University in Utah, where I obtained a B.S. in Social Psychology during the same time in which I started the recruiting company.

As far as writing goes, I have always enjoyed writing. During my university studies, I took several classes that focused on persuasive writing. Writing for me, however, is a wonderful hobby and keeps my mind focused.

Codie: 2) Why do you choose to write for AC, particularly in light of motivations, goals and inspirations?

Jason: Within the next 10 years, I would like to write and publish a novel. I am currently working on an e-book that will help individuals prepare for sales careers and master job interviews. It features insights I have gained over the years recruiting.

Associated Content gives me an opportunity to write about systems I care deeply about, news stories that intrigue me, and other personal interests. I have also just launched a blog that will very shortly feature all sorts of free content concerning accelerated personal development, tips for career success, and even a section where legal terms and ideas are explained simply.

I must confess that Jason Bauer is just a pen name (named after my two favorite television/movie characters, Jason Bourne and Jack Bauer). My real name is [Editor: Deleted as being Top Secret Information].

Codie: 3) What benefit or reward, either personal or professional, do you derive from writing for AC?

Jason: The benefit is mostly personal for writing for Associated Content. I enjoy it. I enjoy interacting with the online community at AC, and it is fulfilling to see writings making a difference to someone else. It is also great to make a little extra money doing something that I would do for free anyway. I plan on continuing to write for AC on a part-time basis.

Follow-up Questions:

Codie: Two intriguing things you said are that you developed a sales recruiting business and that you are planning a novel. Writers always want to know how other writers write what they write.

We'd all be eager to hear--if you want to tell us--anything about your novel and how you're going to go about writing it. Also, I'm sure many readers are itching to build up their own businesses. How did you go about establishing your business and building up a client base?

[Editor: Law school beckoned between the above queries and the following reply.]

Jason: Hi! I apologize for the huge delay in getting back to you. I have just spent the last two weeks moving across the country and have not been on AC at all. I will be happy to answer your follow-up questions. I will get that to you as soon as I can. Thanks, Jason

Codie: We can all appreciate the time-consuming process of starting out in law school, so we definitely understand how Jason has been unable to finish this interview. I decided to publish without the follow-up answers with the understanding that when Jason finds a breathing spell between legal studies and then send in his follow-up replies, I will publish an update to his interview.

SO--don't despair: we will find out how he plans to write what he's going to write and how he went about starting and growing his recruiting business--for pharmaceutical companies, nonetheless..... As they used to say on TV, "So stay tuned. We'll be right back with more [writing] fun!" (Of course, they really used to say, "family fun.") And maybe, he'll mention something more about his new blog!
