An Interview with CP Donald Pennington

Some Insight into a Fellow Writer

Eric Pudalov
Donald Pennington
Date of Interview: Sept. 23, 2008
Donald Pennington, one of our fellow CPs, expressed interest in doing an interview. I found him to be an intelligent, insightful, and cool person; I hope you do as well. Enjoy...and maybe you'll learn a thing or two along the way.

Eric Pudalov: How did you first discover AC?

Donald Pennington: I was into the whole Yuwie thing last year (a Myspace wannabe). Another Yuwie member named Tyler Mills told me about AC just a couple days before I got messed over by another website. So, I've tried them, and have never regretted it.

EP: Under your interests, you list "winning my children back." Can you elaborate on that?

DP: I'm just expressing the real reason why I'm even writing in the first place. It really only says that because there's not enough room to say that I'm building AC up to earn enough to do my part. Just another throw-away Dad trying to build a dependable child-support paying machine.

EP: What inspired you to want to interview other CPs?

DP: Prozac. What inspired you? I had to find a niche somewhere. And it had to be done within the least amount of time possible, and at the lowest possible cost. I like doin' them. My long-term objective is to find that CP who could impact a generation of earthlings and get my fortune from making them famous too. The interviews are also just a step within themselves. They allowed me a chance to learn much about several others here on AC, and therewith, to write something they may enjoy. And it wasn't so much what they said. It was how they said it. It makes me sad that so many of them done previously were ruined by some nefarious AC glitch, just recently.

EP: How long have you been writing (in a journalistic style)?

DP: When did I start writing in a journalistic style? I'm no journalist. I think ultimately, I'm hoping to end up a bard chronicling various points of this life I observe.

EP: What is your favorite article (or other type of content) that you've produced thus far?

DP: If I gotta choose: 1.) To A Soldier's Little Sister
2.) Another Rainy Day Is Fine!
3.) TheLastWordDocumentary.com: The Curse of Johnny Frank Garrett

Others may disagree. I'm sure someone, somewhere, hates everything I do. LOL!!

EP: When you choose a favorite content producer, what do you think attracts you to their writing?

DP: Punctuation, grammar, and spelling are kind of important I guess. But I think that when someone writes from within their gut, it comes across in such a way, that I can almost hear their voice, as I read. Even more importantly though, is that someone else speak their mind. There are so many points that need [to be] made, then either explored, or laid aside as useless forever, as Man evolves. But too many are scared of the opinions of others.

EP: You say you've never attended college. Do you think you would have gained very much from a college education?

DP: Besides herpes, a hangover, and a hangy-thingy on my wall? No. I would've probably been booted out for making trouble.

EP: How do you think journalism has changed since the Internet has become a source of news?

DP: Competition for any industry is always good...ultimately. Prior to the Internet, though, I wasn't really even paying any attention to 'journalism.' The TV spoke and I obeyed.

EP: I saw you have an article about online dating; do you feel that it's worthwhile?

DP: Writing the article, or online dating? I'd recommend anyone try both if appropriate.

EP: In high school, what did you envision yourself doing for a career (if anything)?

DP: My Dad asked me once what I wanted to do. I told him I wanted to be a poet. He told me they tend to make about $12 a year. I asked him: 'What if they're good?' He just laughed and was behind me ever since. His next move was to buy me a pickup truck and a lawn mowing setup, so I could eat while I practiced. Isn't it odd how a question like yours brings back that particular memory? It's one of my favorites. Back to work.

EP: What drives you to keep writing consistently?

DP: When have I ever once in my life been consistent? I'm only coming close to anything resembling consistency now. But thank you for the compliment.

I believe doing an interview with Donald Pennington (or any other CP) is a great way to introduce yourself to the AC community. I don't know if that counts as a "fact."

Good stuff. I got in the back way but you need to email AC to tell them that your content isn't showing up.

An interview with the "Master of Interviews" - clever, interesting, and loved the photo (or rather the comment under the photo)!

I enjoyed that and I learned something - not sure what it was though, maybe just that the simplest of ideas can be the furthest reaching.
