An Interview with Eleria from Associated Content

Harold Dean Sink
Eleria
Date of Interview: September 2, 2008
After a few interviews, I find that there are many people who just want their story told. Even if it means all we get to know is the writer, Eleria has a story you may be interested in.

Most of the answers are succinct, but efficient enough to know where Eleria is coming from. Take the time to get to know Eleria, and you may find your self aking, "What can I offer here at Associated Content?"

You have a unique way of writing. How do you go about inventing a story you want to write?

Most of the time, it just comes to me. I'll be listening to a song, or watching a sunset, and it turns into words.

What is the hardest part about writing for you?

Filling in the gaps definitely. It's easy to get a storyline, but hard to fill in the small details.

Do you ever have to walk away from intense writing to get refocused or does your writing need to be finished before you can leave it?

I do not like to leave ideas blank. A story takes time to finish, but I have to get the thought written down before I feel I can leave it the way it is.

The two questions I ask most writers are about books and authors. Which ones do you prefer reading, and why?

I love all kinds of books, but I'm drawn to fantasy novels such as 'The Lord of the Rings' by J.R.R Tolkien, 'Harry Potter' by J.K Rowling, and 'Princess Nevermore' by Dian Curtis Regan.

Do you try and emulate some of your writings from them or are you daring enough to be as original as possible?

I think a lot of authors pick up ideas from what they read, but I feel my stories and characters are unique and far from mimicking other characters.

If we could glimpse at your thoughts on writing, what would we find?

A mess, kind of like a child's room. Idea's strewn everywhere, most definitely.

Do you feel intoxicated or sense of euphoria when writing about something you most enjoy?

I get lost in my stories, and they make me happy, so yes.

Who would you say has had the most influence in your writing, and why?

Myself. I know it sounds conceited, but characters come from the heart, and no one makes more of a difference in your story than yourself.

If you could go back and change any part of your education, what would you change about it?

I don't think I would change it. I'm happy where I am.

What are a few of your goals as a writer?

The same as every writer, to write something successful. Mine personally is to finish and publish my novel.

Do you plan on becoming a published author outside of Associated Content?

Definitely, I'm definitely hoping so.

Do you have any advice and tips for those who just talk about writing to motivate them into taking action?

Write what you feel. No piece of writing is bad, there's something for everyone.

What would it take for you to feel like an accomplished writer?

I am an accomplished writer, but finishing my book and publishing it would make me truly happy.

How do you spend your spare time when you are not writing?

I enjoy a lot of the arts, so I do a lot of drawing and singing.

What would you do that you don't do now if you were more financially secure?

Nothing really, I don't believe that finances should make a difference in your life.

With the right tools in your hands at Associated Content, do you see yourself doing this in the next three to five years?

Maybe, if I haven't gotten published by that time. Associated Content is good for short stories, so probably.

What questions do you have for the more successful writers here at Associated Content?

None really, I like to respect the privacy of creativity and individuality.

How do you decide on what to write?

It just comes to me, it's not a hard decision to make.

Writer's block is a common issue with most writers. How do you cope with such a situation?

I usually do something else, like draw or play a game until it goes away.

What do you hope to accomplish with your writings?

I want to be successful, and eventually make a living off of them. I want people to feel the same reading one of my books that they do reading other bestsellers.

Thank you for your time today. I hope you enjoyed this interview. Is there anything more you would like to add before we bring this to a close?

Of course, good luck to the other writers out there. And, thank you.

I don't write as much as I used to, but I do find it as a way to put my thoughts on paper or on the computer.  View profile
