JB: Hi Tom, I Heard I was in Town! It is a pleasure to be here, to talk to you and Parrotheads everywhere. If it weren't for my fans, I might still be an altar boy! (laughing)
Me: How are you Jimmy?
JB: The Weather is Here, Wish you were Beautiful.
Me: So what got you interested in the music career?
JB: Making Music for Money
Me: What was the hardest thing to do with starting out in the music industry?
JB: Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season!
Me: If you could sum up your life in just six words, what would those be?
JB: Life is Just a Tire Swing
Me: Early in your career, you had a tough time and failed miserably, what were critics telling you?
JB: You'll Never Work In Dis Bidness, Again
Me: With the birth of one of your daughters, Savannah Jane, i heard you had a nickname for her...what is that?
JB: Little Miss Magic
Me: What coaxed you out of leaving your hometown and heading to Key West in the Florida Keys?
JB: I guess, If i could Just Get In Down on Paper, it would be being Stranded on a Sandbar and getting out of the habit of being God's Own Drunk!
Me: Where are you living currently?
JB: In the Port Of Indecision, at One Particular Harbour in Margaritaville
Me: What was it like to leave Marcelline, Missouri for the first time?
JB: like Defying Gravity
Me: What was the key factor in your asking Jane Slagsvol, your future wife, out?
JB: she was a Smart Woman (in a Real Short Skirt)!
Me: No seriously!
JB: That's my Story and I'm Sticking to it!
Me: What pick up line did you use on her?
JB: Hey Good Lookin'!
Me: Where was your first date?
JB: We went out to lunch at Fruitcakes off the Coast of Marseilles, then it was off to see a movie called Frank and Lola
Me: Do you remember what she was wearing that special day?
JB: I certainly do, she was wearing a A West Nashville Grand Ballroom Gown.
Me: What did you guys have for lunch?
JB: Cheeseburger in Paradise! With lettuce and tomato, Heinze 57 and french friend potatoes, big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer.
Me: What was the last thing you said to her after your date?
JB: I wish Lunch Could Last Forever!
Me: For those people out there wishing to mimic your success as a husband, what advice could you give?
JB: Treat Her Like a Lady
Me: You use to perform alot more than you do now, touring on just Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays now. What happens on the other days?
JB: I'm usually Off to See the Lizard
Me: What do you mean by that?
JB: We'll for one, their is No Plane On Sunday
Me: To what do you attribute your success in the music bis?
JB: My band and what was behind Door Number Three
Me: And what was that?
JB: Only the Wino and I know!
Me: What words would you use to sum up you and your band?
JB: We Are The People Our Parents Warned Us About!
Me: What got you interested in diversifying your career? By this meaning branching off and writing books?
JB: Two things Tom! I had one too many Boat Drinks, and I needed some Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes!
Me: What do you do for extracurricular activities?
JB: I participate in the Pascagoula Run each year and do alot of Changing Channels on my TV.
Me: What keeps you so young at heart and able to be so involved with pertinent topics such as conservation, save the Manatee foundation and Montserrat, in the past?
JB: I'd like to think that what I have is known, non other than Peter Pan disease...
Me: What do you mean by that?
JB: I'm Growing Older But Not Up!!!!!
Me: You have also been in a few movies, with your latest being the cute and funny movie "Hoot". How was that change of pace for you?
JB: Well to put it simply, It's midnight and I'm Not Famous Yet!
Me: When you turned fifty and you were still experiencing success what were you thinking to yourself?
JB: Time to Kick it in Second Wind.
Me: Could you enlighten us as to some in depth things regarding you and your band?
JB: Oh, The Stories We Could Tell, like the the Ballad of Spider John, Peanut Butter Conspiracy, Death of an Unpopular Poet, the Ballad of Skip Wiley, and those stories that made headlines on the Coconut telegraph! If I said it once I'll say it again..."If you don't want it published, don't do it"!
Me: Well, Jimmy, we are about out of time. I just want to thank you for taking a little bit of time out of your hectic schedule to speak to me and Parrotheads everywhere! Is there anything you would like to say to your fans before you leave?
JB: Thank you first of all Tom, from the Knees of My Heart, for inviting me to speak to you! I guess I can sum it up like this...It was a Lovely Cruise and I wish you Love and Luck...It's a Carnival World out there!
