An Interview with Maxx from Paralore.Com & Paralore Podcast
First in My Series of Paranormal People Interviews
Lisa:How long have you been interested in the paranormal?
Maxx: Almost all of my life. My mother lived in a haunted house when she was a child. I grew up listening to stories of the stuff they experienced while they lived there. I used to be terrified of this stuff when I was little, but not anymore.
Lisa: Have you had a personal paranormal experience that led to your being involved in this field?
Maxx: YES, The only thing that has happened to me that I was 100% certain there were no logical explanations for, was when I was a teenager a friend and I were getting back to my house from school. We walked into the kitchen and began getting something to eat when we both very clearly heard my father call my name. I thought he was there, I went and knocked on his door to see what he wanted. I then discovered he was not home at all. We both, to this day still know what we heard. There was definately something strange going on.
Lisa: How many people are in your paranormal group, and how long has the Paralore group been in existence?
Maxx: When we go places or on ivestigations, it is Gene and I, but Lisa and Eva help out alot with everything. We are not your typical ghost investigators, we are more like reporters of the paranormal, and we love all aspects of the unknown. We have been doing this as a hobby for 6 years but only recently teamed up with Gene to make a more serious effort.
Lisa: Why did you decide to branch out and start the Paralore podcast?
Maxx: As soon as we created our website, we wanted to add something to it. We were already going to all these cool places so wouldn't it be cool to tell everyone about these places and our experiences. We try to be informative and also have a good time while doing it. I think it is alot of fun and helps spread the word.
Lisa: What contributions do you think your podcast is making in the paranormal community? What makes it unique from all the other podcasts and radio shows related to the paranormal field?
Maxx: I hope that people listening to our podcast will be entertained, while being informed. For example, we went to a supposed haunted hotel and made sure to get the "haunted" room so we could do a show all about ghost hunters gear 101. We went over the general toolbox and briefly described how they worked and what they were designed to do while trying them out in a haunted place. We try to add a touch of humor, only because.. ...well that just being us.
Lisa: Do you think any major improvements need to be made with paranormal groups as far as working together or how research is conducted, analyzed and shared?
Maxx: Well I think everyone needs to work together and help each other out as much as they can in any field. You just have to do what you feel is right and things will work out for you, there will always be those few who give the rest a bad name.
Lisa: What goals does Paralore have for the group as a whole?
Maxx:Our websites goal is to be a home for people who are active in this field, and people who just love learning and hearing the stories. We want our visitors to network and share info and help each other, we want to be a place where you can get your groups name out, or for the writers and researchers to get their name out.
We have a recent UFO sightings map, Always updated paranormal /science-space news, library of paranormal videos, a group can upload their own podcast to share with everyone, we have a photo lab where you can submit your "supposed" paranormal photo and all members can vote and express their opinion on its validity. We have a classifieds area for people who want to sell their gear or people looking to buy.
We even have a place where people can take IQ tests or They can test their Psychic abilities or just play some cool paranormal related games. We are always trying to figure out ways to help the community through our site, and we are open to suggestions.
Lisa: I noticed that Paralore has paid visits to some pretty famous locations such as the Winchester Mystery House. How did your visit to the Winchester house go on on Friday the 13th, just a few weeks ago?
Maxx: It is a must-see place, very peculiar yet genius. However if your going for the 1st time , I recommend going in the day time so you can see the beauty of the place. We will keep going to famous places because they interest us and hopefully people will want to hear what we have to say about these locations
Lisa: The Paralore website is pretty extensive, with message boards, profiles that members can create, a comment system, blogs and more. Do you think that a website such as yours helps to create paranormal unity?
Maxx: I sure hope it does. That is the goal, like I said before we are open to suggestions-unity is the key ingredient.
Lisa: What is the main message that you would like to spread to the general public about the paranormal?
Maxx: Paranormal events are really pretty normal, you just have to open your eyes and unlock your mind. There is much more going on than what most people believe. Everyone thought Colombus was crazy when he spoke of a round earth in 1492. I'm sure we havent figured out everything correctly by 2007.
