The exhibition was made up mainly of modern/abstract art however, the artists involved, brought along a portfolio of their other work. On entering Hendron Hall, I immediately noticed two large abstract paintings surrounded by a throng of people and pushed my way up to the front. The paintings were awesome and for a person who is not particularly fond of modern abstract art, I was amazed how much I could see, and liked, this artist's work.
The 6x6 paintings were done by one of Ireland's hottest new artists, Oisin McGovern. I listened to the people in the room talking about 'the color, definition and contrasts', and stood there completely unaware of these terms. I love art however I am not a person who knows much about the subject other than the masters.
Oisin McGovern stood silently watching and, when I approached him, I looked through his portfolio which ranged from old masters to modern oils. I wanted to get him alone and interview him as there is something special about this emerging artist. This was not going to be an easy task as the entire room buzzed around him like a bee to honey.
I waited my turn and eventually, I managed to talk to Oisin for five minutes. . I am not going to write this in an interview form however I will relate the story of this somewhat shy and highly artistic young man.
Oisin Mc Govern was born in Ireland and attends the NCAD in Dublin. His work was first shown at an exhibition two years ago and all paintings sold out instantly. Oisin has a regular client base and his artwork can now be found hanging in some of the best homes in the world. He has two sisters and his parents, Orla and Conor, have given him great encouragement along his path.
Nothing says class better than an original art work hanging from your walls and it can be a wonderful investment for the future. Recently, a Jackson Pollock painting sold for $140 million dollars, so it is clear that art certainly does have a value. Oisin states that 'people buy art for many reasons, some for investment but most for the love of the particular painting.' His choice of career can be very unpredictable however so far, he work is selling swiftly and he has some private customer orders on his books. When asked if "anyone famous" bought his work, he smiled and touched his finger to his nose, obviously I was not going to be let into his customer list.
The best way to secure a good deal in art is to buy directly from the artists themselves. If you see work by an artist you like or an artist that is currently hot or in vogue, contact them with a view to visiting them personally. A private viewing can be arranged for anyone who is seriously interested in buying.
My interview with this young and highly talented artist came to an end as yet another person shoved in front of me for five minutes of this artists time. I came back to the States with a piece of Oisin's art which cost me $8,500 and not takes pride of place in my home. His larger paintings commence from $25,000 and are selling fast.

Bold Brushstrokes
Vivid imagery
alike Beauty and the Beast
yet, akin to control and out of control
excellent and experimental
free: is this the painting that you bought? If not I love it. It comes across
almost as a batik.
FASCINATING ATMOSPHERE GENERATED
There is an abstraction yet a realism in this oil painting.
The pulsating colors dissolve together in this formless
yet fully formed piece.
To me, it is a mixture of expressionism of imperssionasm
and an exciting piece of work.
clearly this artist has a fine future ahead
The painting you show borders on contemporary art. It is an excellent piece almost transitional, with a sexual connotation while remaining distant. The painting draws in the viewer which has almost a 3d effect. The artist is exploring abstraction with a flowing technique. Beautiful piece of work.
i have printed off a copy of this artists painting
blown it up and have it on my own wall
very different but I like the direct opposition
in this work.
