An Introduction to E-Books

Dutch deC
E-books? Have you heard about them? E-books are online, virtual books which can be read online, in
a PDF reader, or printed out and read offline. E-books are most often informative and provide you with
some kind of information. There often free or cheaper than "print" books, and tend to be shorter. You can
find them on subjects from couponing to automobiles. One way to get an e-book is to go to an online E-Book
site such as: http://www.free-ebooks.net - they provide free e-books for you to download and read on your
computer (or print out). Some E-Books require you to pay a small fee (anywhere from .50 cents to $20 for a
whole set), often the one's which require you to pay - have better content in them. Some E-Books have
worksheets you can print out and do on your own - such as To-Do lists, Menu Planning Lists, Grocery Lists,
and more.

I have a binder with sheet protector inserts dedicated to my e-books. I prefer to print them out, instead
of reading them online. It helps to print them double sided - if you're not sure how to do this check the manual
which came with your printer. Often when you "purchase" an e-book, you are directed to a download page, where
you click a link to download the book - I prefer to bookmark or favorite this link, so I have it for easy access if I
happen to lose the downloaded book, accidentally delete it, or want to download another copy.

Buyer Beware: Be careful with downloading e-books just like you would with anything else you would
download from the web. If you have a anti-virus program installed, make sure the download is safe.

Here are a few sites to get you started with your e-book journies!

http://www.free-ebooks.net - Provides new e-books, updated daily. Topics ranging from computers, to saving money
to mysteries. Most of the e-books are shorter (only 15 - 25 pages) and the downloads are quick. You do need to
register with the site to download the e-books, but they don't spam you.

http://www.gutenberg.org - Lots of old fashioned books from the 1800 and 1900's. Not many up and coming books. Most of them are on the long side - some even full 300 page novels. Not the site if you want to print out your e-boosk since they tend to be so long!

http://www.ebooks.com - This site requires you to pay, and they seem to offer a pretty hefty price - but offer a huge selection. If you're looking for a very specific e-book - this would be the place to go.

Tip: If you're looking for a specific type of e-book (such as a mystery e-book) do a google or yahoo search for it and see what sites come up!
