Kundalini Yoga is often associated with Hatha Yoga. It can be considered a branch of Hatha Yoga, which possesses its own unique style and teachings.

Kundalini Yoga is, at its heart about self awareness. Kundalini refers to the powerful flow of consciousness which we each possess. A primary aim of Kundalini is to put practitioners in touch with this life force.

Kundalini Yoga encompasses a system of yoga, breath, sound, chanting and meditation exercises. The Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association website highlights these points and also includes more information on the history and teachings of Kundalini Yoga. For instance, it includes a biography of one of Kundalini Yoga's most famous teachers, Yogi Bhajan, an Indian who brought Kundalini Yoga to the West.

One of the great things about Kundalini Yoga is its range of exercises and postures from simple to more advanced. This makes Kundalini Yoga accessible to a wide range of ages and skill levels. After all, Kundalini Yoga is all about learning about the inner soul and the humanity which we all possess. Kundalini Yoga can also improve our mental and physical health, making us more relaxed, flexible and strong. One of the aspects that I love about Kundalini Yoga is its range of simple postures which are well suited to a beginner. If you are just starting out, find a class that is especially for beginners. You should also check with a doctor who knows your health history for advice about what exercises would be appropriate for you.

The exercises of Kundalini Yoga often consisist of dynamic postures which are coordinated with breathing. The aim is to access the Kundalini energy, a powerful life force which exists at the base of the spine.

There are numerous videos and classes about Kundalini Yoga. For instance, see the link at the end of this article for an introduction to Kundalini Yoga. If you plan to take Kundalini Yoga classes, make sure to choose an experienced, licensed and reputable yoga teacher to ensure that your experience is safe and productive.

Many, although certainly not all people, who practice Kunadlini or other yogas practice a vegetarian or vegan diet. However, the aim of Kundalini Yoga is an overall more healthy mental and physical outlook. You may find yourself making healthier choices naturally as a result of your experience with Kundalini Yoga. Undoubtedly, Kundalini Yoga is an enjoyable and rewarding practice.

Unlike many types of exercise which are being promoted today, Kundalini Yoga is extremely holistic. It is refreshing to find a system of exercise which addresses spirituality as well as physical strength.
