An Ode to Earth Day

The Year 3000

V. Miller
In the year 3000, our beloved sky will not be blue.

Sadly, it shall take quite a different hue.

The sky shall forever be a murky, dirty gray

Due to all the polluting we do today.

In the year 3000, our beloved Earth will have no trees.

No more homes for the birds and the bees.

All the places for the animals to crawl,

Have been destroyed for suburban sprawl.

In the 3000, wild beasts will be no more.

There shall be no place frolic, for the deer, lions, and boars.

Unless we all act now, this is the future I foresee.

It is not a problem that can be solved by simply planting a tree.
