An Ode to a Love of My Life

Gayle Crabtree
I turn over at night to feel his warmth
by my side.
The presence is steady and reassuring
His kisses make my heart sing.
When I'm sick he never leaves my side
Unless it is to deliver my inhaler
(if I left it where he can find it)

He walks with me
If I fall,
I can lean on him to help me get up.
If I need more help,
he'll go get it.

The look in his eyes melts my heart.
I love him.
He loves me.

He is my protector,
He shares my joys,
He knows my pain,
He accepts me without judging,
He is ever loyal and ever faithful.

But then what do you expect,
From a canine friend?

I have been reading some of your comments on other's pages and felt a connection to you so I checked out your writing. I love this poem! It did make me think of my husband but I also have such a four legged friend! Glad I found you on AC!

I liked it, smooth, simple with a light hearted humor, yet the love shows through. Friend, fan, smile
