An Ode to WikiLeaks

Candice
WikiLeaks has everyone up in arms, leaving most wondering what will come from it all. Here's my ode to the WikiLeaks situation in the form of a poem.

An Ode to WikiLeaks

Damned if we do
And damned if we don't
These WikiLeaks are sure
Rocking the boat

"SHUT THEM DOWN!" some say,
"LET THEM FREE!" others shout
But either way
Leaves serious doubt

What will happen if they continue?
Global trade will come to a halt
What will happen if we stop them?
Our Internet freedoms will end by default

No more oil
No more loans
No more free speech
No more homes

No more TV
No more iPads
No more Starbucks
Or working folks in traffic jams

So what is left
For us to do?
But close our eyes
Like we always do.

Nicely done. I love the part about "no more iPads" Uh-oh, Steve Jobs!

You've pretty well summed up what the enemies of America are trying to do. Good poem.

Very good! You really ended the poem strong. We always close our eyes to it. Very sharp.

Some people take freedom of speech too far.

Wikileaks is welcome to tell me what the banks are up to, and the big oil companies. They cross the line, though, when they leak secret government documents. They cross another line when they hack into PayPal and Amazon.com just because those companies came out against them. That is cyber totalitarianism.

I agree - and Wiki Leaks has far reaching implications for our society. Actually, I have no idea what they may be, I just like sounding smart and saying "far reaching implications for our society..."

Well done, Candice ! Too much on Wikileaks, but your poem adds spice! Wikileaks has divided the world, out of the blue! My take is, let us not play into the enemies of liberal democracies in the name of freedom of expression! siva
