An Old Sonnet

An Old Sonnet

She turns her heart around at once

If you wait too long. She won't come back;

With her long hair of blonde, of black

She'll make out of you a dunce.

You'll scream and cry all day long,

Knowing full well it's just a delusion,

Though you find yourself in seclusion,

Listening to the same old Orbison song.

Then, what to your eyes might appear?

It's her languishing at your front door;

Hoping in her heart the coast is clear;

Now you're struggling to get up off the floor;

As Sheila grabs her clothes and heads for the john,

While you argue with your estranged out on the lawn.
