An Open Letter to Those Who Are Over-zealous in Supporting Barack Obama

I have in fact a dear friend, who shall here-in remain nameless who, in exception to her usual clarity and wisdom, is, I think, over zealous in her support of Barack Obama over candidate Hillary Clinton in the coming campaign for the American presidency. In current vernacular, one might say she has "gone BALLISTIC!" over Clintons audacity in referring to the assassination of Robert Kennedy, considering this I suppose as an attempt to utilize the American voters' sympathy and compassion for her political ends.

From Wikipedia:The assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, a United States Senator and brother of assassinated President John F. Kennedy took place shortly after midnight on June 5,,1968. He was killed following celebrations of his successful campaign in the Californian primary elections while seeking the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. The perpetrator was a 24-year old Palestinian immigrant named Sirhan Sirhan.

Here is my open letter response: To my good friend: Sunday, May 25, 7:42 A.M. My friend: I shall be brief. I favor Barak Obama in the coming presidential competition. However we should be fair and sensitive to other people. Senator Clinton was clearly close to Senator Kennedy, and she recalled that the nomination for the Democrats in 1968 had not been determined by that June. She remembers the time frame, because of her recollection concerning Senator Robert Kennedy, and his assassination. Sometimes we recall past time frames by memories. I don't see the reference as a ploy.

Now to the more important matters at hand. I favor Obama, among other things, for the fact that he, raised in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he attended Muslim school, has an understanding of the Islamic culture. What could be more important at this crucial time in world history? The question on everyone's table concerns the possibility, under certain circumstances, of American bombing and strafing of Iran. (Then some Republican family-owned company can begin to rebuild - ignoring the possible intervention of Saudi Arabia, or perhaps the United Arab Republic). So the point is, this is a good time for someone to occupy the White House with some insight into Islam. We remember, non-communication breeds misunderstanding. Old School politicians "Don't negotiate with terrorists!", and some of them feel that just about everyone is a terrorist. Also this -- negotiation doesn't mandate deals and compromise, it just means we are attempting some honest communication.

Here comes the meat! We in Chicago are usually slightly ahead of the rest of the nation with news of Barack Obama.; I may have mentioned that to you before. I attended a meal last evening at a United Church of Jesus Christ function, here on The North Side. Perhaps, while they, Obama's home church congregation members, seem (to some) to support Obama, perhaps nothing could be further from the truth. Pastor Wright (of Hussein! Hussein! Hussein!! notoriety), (Wright was not present at the function) only appears to endorse Obama. After an understated discussion of the candidate, one could only at best conclude ambivalence. The Church-goers requested that we discuss the current state of affairs with no one. But time will tell, and I can say this: Here is my prediction. Soon, Obama will be the Democratic nominee. Then, well into the coming election, major unprecedented scandals will be revealed, making Obama an impossible candidate, and hurting the Democrats to such an extent that Republicans will regain the White house for four to eight more, and Apocalypse here we come! I have mentioned my views before on the current chiefs of the GOP: "Envision a pseudo-political group whose sole interest is in the manipulation of the economy for it's own interests. Not influenced whatever by legal or moral issues, beyond the need to present an acceptable facade, with no concern for social programs, the citizenry, or world interests, only, by it's very charter, economic gain. How much damage could these profiteers do?"

I truly hope for a Democratic victory in the coming campaign, and that perhaps The Creator will have lent us a hand in bringing to us Barack Obama not only to resolve world issues, but also to play a part in the resolution of important domestic economic issues. Again, time will tell.
