An Open (and Unhappy) Letter to United Airlines:

I Want a Sandwhich and the People Behind Me to Leave

Bob Z
Hello United Airlines,

First of all i must make it clear that i am not unhappy about the price of the tickets. I realize that i bought them only a couple weeks beforehand, and that they were going to be a quite bit expensive. I am completely ok with that.

Here's the thing, I had about 12 hours of flying each way, so 24 hours overall (just in the air), and do you know what you gave me?:

Pretzels. Stale Pretzels.

I spent hunderds and hundreds (and over a thousand, easy, for 2 tickets) and you can't even give me a sandwhich? NOt only did you not give me anything marginally edable, you had the audacity to offer us, your loyal customers, "snack boxes" for $5. The same food you used to give away youre now making us pay for? Even though your tickets have gone up considerably! How can you expect that we pay MORE money for the same services we used to get for free, its essentially charging us twice! There is no way you are getting any more money out of me, and from what i can tell, no one else bought into your little scheme either.

Oh, and to the family that came onto the plane just about last, then started ordering people out of seats so that you can sit together. Here's and idea, either a) book your flight sooner, b) manage, and sit in the seats you picked, or c) at the very least, be nice about asking and then people might be more cooperative. Marching down the isle and ordering things might work in your own house, tough guy, but out here in the real world, especially on a plane, that isn't going to fly (terrible pun not intended).

Hello, Southwest, here i come.

Oh yeah, you'll get a lot more at Southwest!! Believe you me, the prices are no better and Southwest really does not give you anymore fresh pretzels. Welcome to the new world of flying - and it doesn't matter what airline it's with ... this is the new reality! (I've flown with both Southwest, United and everything else in between and there is NO difference ... TRULY!)
