Indian customers have been confused when it comes to investment on one of these two models. If budget is an issue, a minimal difference of eighty grand between the Jazz and the Honda City baffles the potential customer.
The Honda Jazz goes jazzing with a 1.2L SOHC 4 cylinder i-VTEC engine which is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission gear box. This 1200cc engine can produce a horsepower of 89 bhp. The Honda City is fitted with a 1.5L i-VTEC engine that can create 116 bhp. This engine offers an option of 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automatic transmission. The Jazz can reach a top speed of 160km/h while its 185km/h for the City. The Jazz needs 13.8 sec to accelerate from 0-100km but its big brother can do it in a cool 11 sec. Hence, it can be inferred that the Honda City is more fun to drive compared to the Jazz.
When fuel consumption is in question, both the cars display a recent mileage. The Honda Jazz can run 14.2km per litre while the City can give a reading a little over 13km/l. The Honda Jazz is better in fuel economy compared to the Honda City.
Cars from Honda are known for their cool styling cues. The Jazz is a smart-looking car with a silhouette similar to a mini Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) rather than a hatchback. The slender front pillars and the wide front quarter-windows inject visual appeal to the fascia of the car. To make the hatchback more aerodynamic, the engineers have tapered the rear roofline downwards. The front end flaunts large headlamps and the prominent lines impart an urbane and sophisticated look to the car.
The exterior of the Honda City is decked up with unique 'Arrow Shot Form' design where the front face of the sedan reminds one of the driving energy of the arrow that is thrown from a bow. The rear profile of the car takes the shape of the arrow's feather to communicate an aerodynamic appearance that cuts through the wind. The aggressive grille and angular headlights gives the sedan a sophisticated sporty look. So, you take your pick : the Jazz or the City.
