An Overview of Michael Jackson's Will

An attorney for Michael Jackson filed his will in court today, and the document is now available as a public record. Michael Jackson's will was created on July 7, 2002 and is five pages in length. It was signed by three witnesses in Los Angeles, California. There are eight sections to the will. Here is a brief overview of each section. A photocopy of the complete will is available from the courthouse.

Last Will of Michael Jackson: Part I

In the first part of his will, Michael Jackson declares that he is not married and that he has three children. Their names are Prince Michael Jackson, Jr, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, and Prince Michael Joseph Jackson III. He has no other children.

Last Will of Michael Jackson: Part II

Michael Jackson intends that this will dispose of all property that can be disposed of by will.

Last Will of Michael Jackson Part III

Jackson gives his entire estate to the Jackson Family Trust.

Last Will of Michael Jackson Part IV

All federal and state estate taxes, inheritance tax, and death taxes will be paid by the Trustees of the Jackson Family Trust.

Last Will of Michael Jackson Part V

John Branca, John McClain, and Barry Siegel are appointed as co-executors of the will. They are given authority to sell, lease, mortgage, pledge, exchange, or dispose of his property. The co-executors may also invest and reinvest funds and assets.

Last Will of Michael Jackson Part VI

Michael Jackson states that he has intentionally omitted his previous wife Deborah Jean Rowe Jackson from the will.

Last Will of Michael Jackson Part VII

Domiciliary executors are given powers to handle any properties held outside the State of California.

Last Will of Michael Jackson Part VIII

Katherine Jackson is nominated to care for any minor children at the time of his death. If Katherine Jackson is unable to care for the children, Diana Ross is nominated as their guardian.

It is shocking to see suge an impressive life dissolved in five short pages. Jackson's body is currently travelling to several viewing sites and ceremonies. That family has yet to announce where Michael Jackson's final resting place will be.

    I think his will is effective enough if his mother is too sick or unable to care for the kids then they go to Diana Ross under her guardianship and the trust will be distributed by the executors for the care of his kids unless they are talked into letting his mother have access to the money there should be no problem.

    I wonder why he wouldn't leave his children to a younger sibling, instead of an aging disco singer? I feel bad for those kids.

    Better be ready for a fight..his Will should have been much longer and better detailed I fear.
