The Ritz Carlton of Battery Park - Boosting AAA Five Diamond resort status (the only one in Manhattan), this is a luxury hotel redefined. It overlooks the water making for spectacular views and has a renowned bar in the Rise Bar. Rooms range from $240 to $1300 a night.

Trump International Hotel and Tower - This hotel is frequented by some of the top celebrities. Owned by the very same man with countless real estate properties around the world and his own top rated TV show in "The Apprentice", the hotel is right on Columbus Circle, an excellent location if you want to walk around Lincoln Center and shop on Fifth Avenue. There are plenty of suites with their own kitchens available, albeit they fall in the high end price range. Rooms go from $399 to $1600 a night.

Hotel Pennsylvania - The Hotel Pennsylvania is situated in one of the most strategic spots of the city, right next to Madison Square Garden and a few steps from the Empire State building and the Theatre District It is one of the largest hotels in the area, with 1700 rooms - some equipped with spectacular views of the city. It is also reasonably cheap compared to the rest of the hotels. In the past couple of years, the hotel has gone through extensive renovations, with its main grand lobby being restored to shine with new steel elevators being added. One perk of staying at the Hotel Pennsylvania is that you can arrange for passes to Bally's, a state of the art gym that is located next door with five floors of fitness equipment and an Olympic sized pool. With 24 hour security and guest services, you can't beat this priceless gem.
The Waldorf Astoria - The Waldorf Astoria is one of the grandest hotels in the city, with an excellent location to boot. It is right in the heart of 5th and Madison Avenues, which are the shopping hubs of the city in addition to a few art galleries and specialty stories. This hotel is known for its beautiful luxury suites that are bigger than many apartments. Don't be surprised if your room comes with marble double doors and a fireplace! Plus, with spectacular views of Park Avenue, it cannot be beat. Just expect to pay no less than $180 a night (even during the off season) for a room.

The Gershwin Hotel - Although it is not a world class hotel by any means, it is one suited for the budget conscious. With rooms starting out at an incredibly low $99, the hotel is right in the heart of the Flatiron District which is close to the Empire State Building. The building itself is an art lovers dream, with Pop art paintings filling the lobby walls and a musical space dubbed The Living Room that is the stage for theatre and musical performances. The Gershwin Hotel has 13 floors and claims not one room looks the same. Just don't expect the best cleanliness in the world, as many tourists have claimed old furniture, small bathrooms, and bare minimum facilities. Prices for rooms start at $99.
