An Unsuccessful Count to Zero

Jump Through a Higher Hoop

LarrWayne Po

Is counting to zero,
A wasteful dream?
What a challenge
It can be.

Oh,
Your account is overdrawn?
We are going to tack on
Additional fees.

Don't the rich bankers
Just love us dear?
A greeting card with love,
Will be sent
At least once a year.

Wages garnisheed?
There will be additional charges.
You must jump
Through a higher hoop.
Empty your pockets.

Would bullies team up
And pile on?
Kick 'em when they're down
For the count?

Piling on is fair;
The referee didn't see it.
The ref works for us.
Sell your car
And ride the bus.

Since you only have
A part time job,
We'll have to rob,
I mean extract
All of your funds,
And then some.

Who but a bum,
AKA thief,
Would take the last crumb
There is to eat?

Have you met
A former acquaintance of Lazarus?
Not yet, I suppose,
But don't count out the possibilities,
That are amongst us.

Reaching true nothingness is as elusive as is achieving everything ... I think.
