In the 1990-1991 season, Rob Niedermayer was on his way to the NHL playing with the Medicine Hat Tigers, a team in the WHL (Western Hockey League). The WHL is one of the three leagues that makes up the CHL (Canadian Hockey League), which is the highest level of junior hockey in the country. Rob Niedermayer played with the Medicine Hat Tigers for three seasons, until the end of the 1992-1993 season. Rob Niedermayer was drafted in 1993 by the Florida Panthers, 5th overall. He was the Florida Panther's first round pick.
After being drafted, Rob Niedermayer went straight to the NHL with the Florida Panthers. Niedermayer stayed with the Panthers the entire season, although he did not play every regular season game with them. After a season in the NHL with the Florida Panthers, Rob Niedermayer was moved down to the WHL to play with his old team, the Medicine Hat Tigers, for the beginning of the 1994-1995 season. Niedermayer only played 13 games with the Medicine Hat Tigers before being called up by the Florida Panthers to play with them again. He finished out the rest of the 1994-1995 season with them, and was never moved back down after that. Rob Niedermayer actually stayed with the Florida Panthers for quite a while. He played his last season with them in the 2000-2001 season.
Rob Niedermayer was traded to the Calgary Flames for the 2001-2002 season. He only stayed with the Calgary Flames for two season before being traded to the Anaheim Ducks (Mighty Ducks of Anaheim at the time). Rob Niedermayer played with the Anaheim Ducks until the 2004-2005 NHL Lockout. During that season, Rob Niedermayer headed overseas to play with the Ferehcvarosi TC in the HUN, although he did not get much playing time. He came back to the Anaheim Ducks the 2005-2006 season, when the NHL Lockout was over. Rob Niedermayer has been playing right wing for the Anaheim Ducks ever since. In 2005, Scott Niedermayer was signed to the Anaheim Ducks, and the brothers began playing together for the first time and won the Stanley Cup together in the 2006-2007 season.

Post a CommentGreat biography here, Bob. Extra points as he used to play for the Panthers.
Thanks for the article
Good work.
A young one sometimes is the really great hockey player. He learns the right way from the start and that is a good play tactic so he can play well at the beginning.
Great article, I like the Ducks they play very close to me.
I know nothing about hockey, but nice bio!
Awesome, another great hockey write up!
