Analysis of the Conference USA Bowl Season

2009-2010

Rutgers made it known they were not excited about the bowl game they were going too. They still managed to wipe out a George O'Leary UCF team. Middle Tennessee beat S. Miss. It is never good when one of the most identifiable teams in your conference loses to a Sun Belt team. SMU did beat up on Neveda which really surprised me. Most of the experts in Vegas had Neveda pegged as a two touchdown favorite and understandably so. Neveda had run over anything and everything in sight recently and the SMU run defense did not inspire confidence. June Jones getting things turned around in Texas. SMU is still like the 21st best team in the state. Marshall picked up a ho-hum win over Ohio. Many people has this picked as the worst bowl game in the history of the world but this was a good win for a down trodden Marshall team. Air Force made Houston look like a really bad 5th grade team. Our military is the greatest and most efficient military in the history of the world, imagine if somebody could come up with the technology to place all of our enemies in Houston and Missouri uniforms. That would be ridiculous. Arkansas looked beyond terrible but when the other teams field goal kicker continues to miss field goals, especiall game winning ones and those in overtime, things just seem to work out for you. Arkansas beat the Conference USA champ in overtime. All in all the Conference USA ended up going 2-4 this bowl season. Less than inspiring I would say in what should have been at leat a 4-2 record.
