Analysis of the Sun Belt's and MAC's Bowl Season

2009-2010

Middle Tennessee was down 14 early but played solid football over the next 3 quarters to pick up a good win over Southern Miss. Not only did they win the game by 10 but they also picked up a 10 win season. Dwight Dasher, MTSU QB, is a special player. Will this victory finally give them the confidence they need to knock off Troy for the conference championship. The only other Sun Belt team in action this bowl season is Troy and they will play Central Michigan on Wednesday.

The MAC continues to lose credibility as a league. Ohio could not beat a Marshall team that had just lost their coach. Temple played inspired football in their first bowl game since 34 BC. The fact that they were stomping UCLA at halftime, well an 11 point stomping, is one of the only high points for the MAC so far this bowl season. Bowling Green botched a victory against Idaho. Northern Illinois starters stayed in the locker room for the second half after a solid first half and currently the MAC sits at 0-4 this bowl season. Central Michigan has one last shot at MAC redemption against Troy. If the Chippewas cannot win this game the MAC, at least in some circles, will be considered the lowest division on the totem pole.
