Anchor Rick Sanchez Fired from CNN Today, for Saying "Bigot"

Rick Sanchez's Rant on Jon Stewart Caused Him to Be Fired from CNN

Anchor Rick Sanchez fired from CNN today. Why, because of his rant on Jon Stewart. Rick Sanchez made a comment that could be construed as untoward remarks against Jews. One of Rick Sanchez's comments was, "I think to some extent Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are the same way. I think Jon Stewart's a bigot." Not to bad a word for someone to say, but it does get better.

Later during the show, Pete Dominick asked Rick Sanchez to explain his sentiment. Rick Sanchez's reply was, "I think he looks at the world through his mom who was a high school teacher, and his dad who was a physicist or something like that. Great, I'm so happy that he grew up in a suburban middle class New Jersey home with everything you could imagine." For many this comment sounds a bit like jealousy. Could it be a bit of jealousy, sure it could be.

Jealous people generally state that when people look at others more fortunate than themselves. That is when this type of comment is made. From many perspectives, this comment sounds like jealousy.

Later Pete Dominick asked Rick Sanchez, "What group is he bigoted toward?" Rick Sanchez replied, "Everybody else who's not like him. Look at his show, I mean, what does he surround himself with? That's what happens when you watch yourself on his show everyday, and all they ever do is call you stupid." Apparently, Rick Sanchez didn't or couldn't come up with a straight answer right away. Again, for many it sounds like he's still jealous.

Pete Dominick asked again who Jon Stewart was bigoted against and Rick Sanchez replied, "Anybody who's different than you are, anybody who's not from your framer of reference; anybody who doesn't look or sound exactly like the people that you sound like and grew up with. The people that you put on your show, who always reflect somebody who's I'm bringing in to sit around me, you know who's very different than me. I'm sorry but I just don't by this thing that the only people out there who are prejudiced are the right. There's people that are prejudiced on both sides."

Rick Sanchez also pointed out that Jon Stewart is "Very much a white, liberal establishment point of view. He can't relate to a guy like me. He can't relate for a guys who's dad worked all his life. He can't relate to somebody who grew up poor." Now this is where it gets tricky for some people. That comment can be true for many people. People who are born into wealth usually don't have to work for what they have, so in that respect yes many people will agree with Rick Sanchez on that part of his comments.

Middle and poor class working people actually work to try to make ends meet. They don't have extra funds to play the stock market or gamble away their money. Every bit of money they earn pays for what they have. That's not to say that the wealthy haven't worked for what they have it's just they do less work because nine times out of ten they were born into money.

Later Rick Sanchez took back the word bigot and replaced it with prejudiced. Does it make a difference, some say yes others say no. Rick Sanchez stated, "If I did just sit there and read the teleprompter everyday, Jon Stewart would never say a word about me. He'd say I'm a good Hispanic anchor, way to go, you've done a good job, stay right there. I am a complex human being, I'm not some moron."

Rick Sanchez laughed off a comparison made by Pete Dominick about Jon Stewart being Jewish and being considered a minority. Rick Sanchez replied, "Very powerless people. He's such a minority, I mean, you know. Please, what are you kidding? I'm telling you everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they the people in this country who are Jewish are an oppressed minority? Yeah."

Somehow, this comment does sound a bit on the racist side. Everyone needs to just get along and treat each other how they want to be treated themselves. If they did this, the world would be a better place.

I guess as a whole this is why Rick Sanchez was fired from CNN today. What's your opinion America, was CNN right for firing Rick Sanchez?

Rick was not fired for saying the word bigot, he was fired because he said that Jews controlled the media, and inferred that Jews are not a powerless people - which are both 100% true.

I don't think his remarks were of a bigot nature he was stating the truth about those who work hard and those who never really had to and he was not the one who made the Jewish reference first.
