AnchorFree Hotspot Shield IP Connection Error Internet Explorer 8

The Portland Journal
I stumbled upon a little error today with the download for Anchor Free Hotspot Shield ver 1.22.

The popular outdoor surfing tool that is designed to help you hide your I.P. address from hackers or snoopers, phishers etc, had a little problem when I tried to run the program downloading it with Internet Explorer 8.

What happened was on installation and uploading the files to 'Program Files' then running the program, a pop-up error dialogue box appearered in the middle of the screen.

basically the error said that Internet Explorer could not connect to server i.p. 174.000.000. (Not the actual I.P. address for obvious reasons)

Okay I thought, only a little glitch, so I completely removed the download and installed it again the same way with Internet Explorer 8.

The same problem occured, so I completely removed the offending download off my computer.

The fix is pretty simple and that is to use the Mozilla Firefox Browser!

Without doubt it is probably the better known of the popular alternatives to using Internet Explorer, and seems to have far less glitches with its format, especially using the AnchorFree Hotspot Shield software.

If you do not have Firefox go get it now if you want to resolve the Hotspot Shield error quickly.

It is the easiest way possible without having to start trawling through problem files and add-on's in Internet Explorer. There are currently so many of these at the moment, some of which Microsoft do not even know what causes the issues.

Once you have installed Firefox you are ready to go get the Anchor Free Hotspot Shield and surf happily in Starbucks. The link to the FREE download is the link below this blurb.

Just remember that when you connect to the VPN the program will automatically open in the Firefox browser and the Hotpot Shield program will begin. After a few moments you should see that it connects to a proxy I.P Address, and the Hotspot Shield Symbol in the utility tray on the bottom right of your screen should show green.

If any technicians wish to add to this feel free to write a comment!

I do not work for AnchorFree or Mozilla, this information comes from my own personal experience with the software.
