Ancient Love Story 2050

The promos open with a snapshot of Mumbai in the year 2050, quite sexy! I was impressed and couldnt wait to listen to the songs expecting some really kick ass futuristic sound track. I was shocked out of my wits to see Annu Malik's name as the composer, he is talented and has also given some really cool hits, but Love Story 2050 is supposed to be young, cool hip and all that jazz so where did they manage to find ancient Annu Malik?

Another shock came when i heard the song snippet on TV for the first time. I was thrilled coz the song had almost met my expectation of the film. Very cool, robotic and futuristic sound treatment - kudos Annu Malik. I loved they way Harman danced in the song... he looks like gareeb logon ka Hritik Roshan to me but has all the style and class to be a Hit among the masses. Priyanka has nothing to do much in the song but she sure looks very cool in the RED HAIR! Now i was dying to listen to the whole song as i loved the interlude music a lot!

I was dissapointed i must say when i heard all the songs. The title track itself let me down totally. I was waiting for that gyrating tune to play in loop but there is some silly nasty chorus saying 'mera dil yeh tumse bole....' How can u ruin a song like this? The entire album is very very average and nothing but the title track to make you grove. All the other songs are very cliche hindi filmi and come out straight from the 'That 80's era'. All songs have that distinct 'theka' from the 80's and 90's era which is so typically Annu Malik.

With futuristic and young sound like 'Jaane tu ya jaane na' which incidentally is also releasing on the same day as "LS 2050" the former being very soothing and new age and Rahman not dissapoint as usual, the later is a sad translation of the movie in to music.

Music has evolved and is light years ahead of what it was just 5 years ago. My personal favorites have been Vishal-Shekhar and the trio of Shankar Ehsaan and Loy. Rahman has attained God status in music and anything that he makes is music to me. Movies these days have such path breaking music its no Item in a picture anymore. It is only going to get better from here.
