And a Coward Came from Behind

As American History goes every major event that has taken place in this country whether good or bad has change some of our lives over time and others forever will be changed.

On September 11th 2001 what took place in New York City has changed a nations lives forever. Before this day we went about every day as if it was seemingly automatic how our daily plans would go. No thought of not making it home that evening to sit and share supper with the family or a movie with a date or maybe just hang out by ones self and enjoy the calm from a day at work.

On this horrific day what a group of anti American people did to a city changed our country for a life time. A group of terrorist who had been training for years planning each event strategically as to what each ones role would be in the final moments of their lives set in motion a unmerciful plan that in the finale would take the lives of not only employees and professionals but also mothers, fathers, sons, brothers,wives and husbands. As we all watched in dis amaze as if it were something that could not be happening not here not now. As the media coverage continued with not just one hit but then another and then coverage from The Pentagon started a whole new string of tragedy.

When the chaos had settled some what and news coverage began bringing us the counts of those who had lost their lives it was still as if we should wake up now and the nightmare would be over. Unfortunately this did not happen. America had been hit from behind by a coward who had a problem and instead of speaking his peace to a nation they brought turmoil and grief and death and morning and later anger across a nation.

I do not know and cannot speak for every one else. At that time listening to the death tolls as they were broad casted across the Nation made me want to grab a weapon and immediately find the one responsible for this cowardly attack on the innocent of hundreds upon hundreds of lives that in the blink of an eye ended at the hands of these cowards. I know we have been waging a war since that day on the terrorist society as a whole and more lives have been lost and more blood has been shed on both sides of this war. Unfortunately the coward responsible cannot be found.

Well this is my dedication to those who oppose America and the land of The Free. On 9/11 a nation pulled themselves up off the ground and dusted their selves off. Then stood up with a voice that rang through the Heavens and said, "We took this one but rest assured it will be the last". Other nations looked in awe as this country united one with another and began searching for survivors and as The New York Fire Department and Police Department grieved the lost of their fallen comrades they still dug and searched risking life to try and save or free victims from this brutal attack to try and restore as much of the American household as they could. During this our Military was on stand by around the world not sure of what would come next but knowing that they are the best trained in the world and was now awoken by the threat that came through Americas back door and with intent to kill the American way of freedom they were ready to seek out this threat and destroy it to make sure it hurts no more.

I know some are very displeased with our government currently and disappointed the handling of a lot of this search and destroy. It seems like the anger has shifted back into our own country at our own government for not delivering the coward on a silver plate. We have taken a tragedy and conformed it to political gain and trust in political parties. Well I have something to add about this to all the candidates in the up coming Presidential race for 2008.
The lives that were lost on that day and taken by those terrorist were lives of Democrats, Republicans and Liberals and the terrorists did not distinguish between any of the parties. One thing they did agree on was they would take the lives of Americans. Sorry to bust the candidates bubbles but they did not look at it as if the republicans or Democrats held the majority of senate or house.

On that day we were United as Americans and being a veteran of The United States Army I can say that I was never so proud of my country then I was when I seen the unity of all those who gathered to help the injured and the grieving and the helpless. This all done by men and woman not caring for their own lives but for others. So for all those who were taken away by this and for all those who laid down their lives for others and worked through the days and nights of that day.
I say Thank You and you have shown the world the true America. One who will stand behind each other and if one falls the other picks up. I am proud of my country now if we can just put the political theories away and remember the rest of the world sees Americans nothing else.

As for the terrorist, we will never forget you as well. You took our fellow Americans from us. You caught us off guard and took full advantage of it that is why now you hide in mountains and caves or send woman and children to do your work for you because a coward never confronts his problem face to face. Rest assured we stumbled from the blow but we will never fall while our unity abounds.
