And Just Who is This New Kid on the Block?

Let the Reveal Begin

Lee Hansen

Well after all the hoopla, advertising and anticipation, it's finally going to happen.

WHAT: A new Aldi in Raytown is opening-Yeah!!

WHEN: September 1, 2011. At 8:15 a.m. the Chamber of Commerce members will have a "meet and greet" with Aldi officials and store employees. (Have you ever observed how quick the cashiers ring up your purchases? It's like an art form).

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will commence at 8:45.

AND JUST WHAT IS ALDI?:

A discount grocery store that has a large selection of over 1400 selected brands for consumer-conscious customers.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

An expanded five-aisle layout, higher ceiling and natural lighting.

STORE HOURS:

9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday; 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sundays

PAYMENT CHOICES:

Cash, EBT and most debit cards

BAG OR BOX IT YOURSELF:

If you don't mind bringing your own shopping bags and packing your items, this is a good place to shop for many of your staples. Of course you can pay about 4-6 cents per bag if you prefer but you still do your own packing.

HISTORY:

Aldi must be doing something right since its founding in 1976. They boast of more than 1100 stores in 31 states with plans to open 80 more by the end of 2011.

CHEER:

I feel a cheer coming on. Here we go Aldi, here we go. Here we go Aldi, here we go. Okay so I think you know I'm an Aldi enthusiast.

Perhaps you're not in the Raytown area but the chances are good you may have an Aldi in your neck of the woods. It might be worth checking out. Your wallet will appreciate the savings.
