And She Danced: A Poem

Scott Bauer
She carefully walked upon the stagnant frozen surface

Of her conceptual reality

And as she walked, she realized just how sturdy

Her beautifully frigid reality was.

What you're walking on....

In knowing her stability she began to dance

Faster and faster, stomping heavily

She danced and danced - quickening and quickening

Sweat ran down her arms as her feet began to bleed

The ice under her pounding feet turned dark red

But she was uncaring and oblivious

What you're walking on...

She danced out of joy of her stable reality

Proud no matter how it looked or how cold it felt

She began to sing aloud as she danced - preaching

Her arrogance and boasting of her stable base

What you're walking on is...

She sang so loud, never did she hear her precious base

Crack.

She danced so fast never did she feel her frozen reality

Crack.

What you're walking on is thin....

Never does one know when their reality is going to break.

Cause what you're walking on is thin ice.
