And the Silence is Deafening

Charles B Reynolds
The silence is deafening.

At war, our commander-in-chief doesn't talk with his own general in charge until shamed into doing so by a leaked memo. And the silence is deafening.

Our men and women die in the streets and on the roadways of a foreign country and our leader has to "think about it for a few weeks" when he has been in office for dozens of weeks. And the silence is deafening.

Millions of Americans shout at the speed and depth of changes to the very core values of their country. And in the halls of our nation's capital, the silence is deafening.

Millions spent on nothing of consequence to average Americans (unless you happen to be a turtle who needs to cross the road in Florida). And the silence is deafening.

The world sits and watches and laughs at the downfall of America. And the silence is deafening.

Our President, the leading representative of the people, travels the world and speaks ill of our country, making you wonder why he wanted to be President in the first place. And of our great accomplishments and the great good we have done for the world, the silence is deafening.

Of the untold wealth of charity our citizens, not simply our government but our citizens, have spread across the globe in times of need, the silence is most assuredly deafening.

A child of thirteen is molested, the perpetrator flees, is caught years later and our celebrities defend him, even going so far as to question the legitimacy of the "rape". And from the child advocates and women's groups and downright decent folks the silence is so very sadly deafening. [3]

Women and children around the world still traded like chattel in domestic and sex slave rings while the "civilized" world looks on. And the silence is despicably deafening.

A country lives by its own wise words of Constitution, following their own legal letter of the law, while so-called Democracies decry their actions of a wannabe dictator's ouster as illegitimate and unrecognized, even in the face of fact and desire. And in the halls of legislature and press rooms the silence is tyrannically deafening. [2]

Evil abounds in the lands of Abraham and Ghandi and Alexander and Washington and Isabella and Wu Cheng En [1] and all who would have wished its demise, turning once proud cultures into mockeries. And the silence is deafening.

As all these changes and horrors and acts of inhumanity percolate throughout the globe and here at home, though some small whispers try to rise above the din of closed lips, America's major press outlets and many of those in countries near and far quell and dampen and scoff askance anything news worthy. And the silence is permeating and sickeningly deafening.

Edmund Burke once said that "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." I say, all that is necessary for such evil to subdue the hearts and minds of good and decent people is for the silence to become deafening.

Notes

[1] Wu Cheng En wrote Journey to the West, a Chinese Classic tale. You should read it. (Or in this day of media frenzy, watch any number of movies about it. I recommend The Lost Empire with Thomas Gibson and Russell Wong.

[2] Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) actually wrote an article of his visit to Honduras. but it will make no difference to the world that has made their mistake and will refuse to see the truth. View it here.

[3] Whoopi Goldeberg's questioning of the "rape-rape" is so despicable yet no one cried out foul against her or those like her. See my view of this.

You are sooooooo right. Beside Whoopi Goldberg, another very big star, some years ago, said that her daughter' rape at 11 years old was just an "early intro to sex, which is natural."

Every bit of this is true.
